Internship opportunities are available for the Summer of 2022 in our Perry, GA facility. Projects may be in the manufacturing Printing, Cutting, Finishing, Maintenance, or Quality departments. During this 12-week paid program, you will gain practical experience on real-life assignments that will put your theoretical knowledge to the test. Not only will you receive on-the-job training, you'll also get exposure to project management and develop a host of transferable skills. This position will work on process improvements that improve facility's KPI's.

 

JOB FUNCTIONS: Job functions include, but are not limited to the following.

  • Assist the assigned Departments in managing improvement projects to meet facility goals. Depending on area assigned and academic major, you may work with projects that involve process improvements, equipment reliability, process control, material testing, and/or support trials and investigations of new technologies.
  • Lead one or more projects that will be started and completed within the summer.
  • Review procedures, analyze data, and implement sustained process improvements.
  • Help to identify potential changes needed to improve system / process effectiveness and efficiency.
  • Collect and analyze data to incorporate trends and provide corrective action planning to Department Manager and leadership teams.
  • Use technical skills and formal lean/six sigma methods to identify root causes and implement solutions, including design changes.
  • Assist in writing standard operating procedures, training manuals, and for delivering training to employees
  • Responsible for managing projects and providing weekly updates to Department Manager along with completing a Final Presentation to the Core Team.
  • Provide support to other departments, as needed.
  • This is a temporary position for approximately 3 months; could lead to possible fulltime employment at conclusion of internship.

BACKGROUND / EXPERIENCE / SKILLS:

  • Lean/Six Sigma knowledge highly desirable
  • Computer proficiency
  • Excellent written/verbal communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills
  • A drive self-starter who is self-directed, takes initiative to move forward with ideas, and is committed and able to work with and influence others.
  • Attention to detail and ability to multitask

 

EDUCATION / KNOWLEDGE:

  • Must be pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (Mechanical / Industrial / Electrical preferred)
  • Completion of 2 – 3 years engineering curriculum by Spring 2024 is preferred

SCHEDULE DEMANDS:

  • General schedule is an 8-hour M-F assignment, however, employee must be willing to work alternate schedules occasionally; that may include early mornings, nights, and/or weekends and be punctual while doing so.
  • The final schedule to be agreed upon by intern and hiring manager.
