Title:  Analyst, Operations AI/ML

MISSION: The Operations AI/ML Analyst is responsible for supporting digital strategy development, optimization, and compliance as applies to collecting and leveraging data across the America’s Converting division to reduce unscheduled equipment downtime and improve overall process reliability. This role is also responsible for supporting operational excellence objectives by providing insights to positively affect focus plants and processes within the division. 

JOB FUNCTION: Job functions include but are not limited to the following. 

  • Monitor and trend a wide array of manufacturing assets to detect incongruities in data. Data sets include but are not limited to overall equipment effectiveness component performance, process parameters and machine faults.
  • Prioritize and direct support and intervention from subject matter experts and original equipment manufacturers by utilizing a data driven approach.
  • Support manufacturing sites in data interpretation and opportunity identification, to include an accountability mechanism focused on both the trending and immediate results.
  • Engage manufacturing sites in recognizing, employing, documenting, and sharing use case examples.
  • Log actions from equipment care plans into centralized system and launch follow up cadence.
  • Validate equipment care action completion through both spend analysis and equipment performance impact trending.
  • Develop and maintain asset life cycle tracking mechanism to appropriately forecast costs and timing of wear part replacement. Utilizing this data, recommend repair/replace strategy for capital expenditures.
  • Integrate AI (such as Robotic Process Automation and Machine Learning) as solutions to barriers affecting the business.
  • Capture detailed AI/ML technology capabilities (e.g. strategies, roadmaps, playbooks) to document best practices.
  • Build and manage relations with universities, vendors, clients and other sources of expertise and innovation.
  • Determine and utilize measures of success such as KPIs, for each AI initiative demonstrating business impact.
  • Direct strategy for connectivity of the appropriate process parameters on critical assets to drive ML and AI feasibility.
  • Maintain playbooks and work instructions for interface tools and software.

  BACKGROUND / EXPERIENCE:

  • Experience as a machine learning engineer, data scientist or developer of AI/ML.
  • Proficient utilization of Python, Java, and other AI code writing platforms to conduct complex statistical calculations, create data visualizations, build machine learning algorithms, manipulate, and analyze data, and complete other data-related tasks.
  • Experience creating and/or utilizing ML frameworks, libraries, data structures, data modeling, and software architecture.
  • Background as a thought leader and strategic partner to cross functional leaders promoting and educating the business on appropriate application for AI, ML and DL.
  • History of multitasking to include, leading projects with external partners to develop a minimal viable product to meet those needs while resolving any issues that may arise, leading the analysis and mining of very large quantities of data with expertise in several domains to find patterns and insights utilizing statistical software.
  • Proven ability to interact with business partners, project managers, cross-functional teams, key stakeholders, and other domains to generate ideas/hypotheses, test hypotheses, build analytics capabilities and drive business value.

 EDUCATION / KNOWLEDGE:

  • Education: Bachelor’s Degree in computer science, data science, mathematics, engineering, or a related field preferred, or equivalent relevant work experience.
  • Experience in the folding carton industry is extremely preferred. Specific knowledge of KBA, Bobst and other related OEM’s also highly desirable.

 SPECIFIC SKILLS:

  • In-depth knowledge of mathematics, statistics, and algorithms with superb analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Great communication and collaboration skills with the ability to effectively manage time and remain and organized.
