MISSION / SUMMARY:

Function as a team member in a high pace, time sensitive environment.  Ensure master data integrity, efficient material movement and effective inventory management.  Interact with customer service, mill and plant employees, third party warehouse personnel and third party converters to support high inventory and shipping performance. Positive communication with team members and management is imperative.

JOB FUNCTIONS: Job functions include, but are not limited to the following.

  • Analyze the paper machine trim loss impact of product and production mix.  Gain expertise in GPI’s paperboard trim tools (Optivision, Panther, etc.). 
  • Evaluate mill production mix trends and opportunities for improved mill loading.
  • Utilize fiber planning systems to analyze operating plan versus actual production for all SUS machines.
  • Identify candidate materials for internal vendor managed inventory programs.  Recommend stocking levels to maximize service levels while lowering total working capital investment.
  • Conduct analysis to support GPI’s efforts to build robust scheduling planning to meet the fiber planning and board order priority processes.  Analysis includes, but isn’t limited to: paper machine cycle integrity, allocated tons by paper machine vs forecasted tons accuracy, analysis of vendor managed inventory mill production versus planned vendor managed inventory production, and mill machine capacity required to meet machine order backlogs.
  • Develop standard operating procedures for fiber scheduling and planning systems.
  • Participate in strategic project initiatives as assigned.
  • Participates in operations and scheduling/planning meetings.
  • Report scheduling and operation metrics to include mill throughput targets, trim loss, warehousing, transportation, inventory, backlogs and industry requirements.
  • Mange third party converter scheduling and identify opportunities to utilize excess inventory through rework opportunities
  • Perform other Tactical Planning functions as appropriate: Resolve late demand and exceptions, update production run dates, trouble shoot and mitigate supply and demand imbalance, maintain minimum and maximum block length and correct / maintain data integrity elements

BACKGROUND / EXPERIENCE:

  • 2 years of supply chain operations in a complex manufacturing and logistics organization.
  • Development of strategic and long range planning
  • Cost improvement identification and implementation
  • Development and implementation of vendor managed inventory solutions.
  • Familiar with sales & operations planning processes.

EDUCATION / KNOWLEDGE:

  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • Advanced computer skills including a significant understanding of ERP (e.g. SAP, JDE, etc.) systems.
  • Preferred candidate will have minimum of one year experience working in Kinaxis / Rapid Response advanced planning software
  • Intermediate to advanced experience with Excel, Access, and other analytical software tools.
