Job Description
As an expert in QAD ERP, the mission of this position is to analyze business requirements and identify projects and technologies which will enable significant operational results for the corporation. The analyst formulates and defines scope and objectives, based on both business needs and a solid understanding of industry requirements and best practices. In addition, the analyst will function as a project manager to coordinate and facilitate the work of cross-functional company resources assigned to system’s projects. The analyst will be involved with the full software development lifecycle of analysis, design, coding, testing, implementation, and support of developed solutions. This position will also be involved with routine maintenance of the QAD ERP system and other supported applications. This position collaborates with business process owners to foster a positive IT customer relations environment.
Essential Job Functions:
The QAD Business Systems Analyst is responsible for the following functions:
- Define business systems requirements jointly working with management and professional staff in the organization. Technical solutions must satisfy the business needs for the future, i.e., take into account company growth and customer service objectives.
- Develop working relationships with a diverse group of business people and gain an understanding of the complex nature of the company’s business. Maintain familiarity with the business plans of the company and the departments serviced. Remain knowledgeable of information technology and company business operations.
- Responsible for assisting management in setting priorities within that functional area and work with IT Leadership to communicate with senior management.
- Instructs, directs, and checks the work of less experienced Business Systems Analysts.
- Responsible for assembling project team, assigning individual responsibilities, identifying appropriate resources needed, and developing schedule to ensure timely completion of projects and meeting deadlines of projects. Familiar with the scope and project objectives, as well as the role and function of each team member in order to effectively coordinate the activities of the work team.
- Allocate resources based upon the magnitude and necessity of the project. Prioritize projects and tasks in order to achieve department and company objectives. Ensures adequate communication is maintained regarding all project status and priorities.
- Develop detailed system design which supports the system requirements. Conduct technical reviews and walk-through of IT design documentation with development and design team members. Review and critique the technical documentation of other systems to assure quality products.
- Build and develop technical solutions to satisfy business needs and system requirements, managing those solutions through the full software development life cycle.
- Provide support for designated application systems. Augment and facilitate the design, development, implementation of enhancements to existing business systems.
- Provide guidance in creating standards, testing procedures, version control, etc. Maintain a professional awareness of tools and techniques that might be used to improve the quality of service.
- Strong change management skills when managing a change through the full SDLC.

Project Management
- Ensures all projects are managed in accordance to established GPI IT PMO governance practices
- Foster cross-functional relationships inter- and intra-departmentally for effective project management
- Assign projects and track the completion of major milestones
- Communicate to all stakeholders updates on project status
Specialized or Technical Experience
- 5 years experience supporting and customizing QAD or similar ERP application
- 5 years of experience with Progress OpenEdge ABL or other functional language
- Experience with TailorPro, Pro2, and other QAD support tools are a plus
- Experience in a production support role working in a manufacturing environment
- Experience with integrating QAD or other ERP with other systems using various technologies
- Knowledge of Functional, System, Integration, Unit and Regression testing
- Experience in full SDLC from conception through support
Other Required Skills
- Strong understanding of business operations and best industry practices
- Demonstrated problem solving and analytical skills
- Ability to effectively communicate technical information to non-technical coworkers and business partners
- Work closely with members of various business functions
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field. Equivalent work experience also considered.
