MISSION / SUMMARY:

The mission of Supply Chain Commodity Analyst is to provide category spend management support (directs, indirects, logistics) for GPI’s operations in a fast paced, time sensitive environment.  The position requires interaction with not only the supply chain team, but nearly all functional areas within GPI (finance, legal, plant operations, and product development) and our suppliers.  This position must maintain a high level of data and analysis integrity in the areas of spend classification/compliance, pricing, usage, inventory, diversity reporting, supplier performance and tracking of key procurement initiatives.  The Supply Chain Commodity Analyst also can function as a project manager and assist in routine maintenance, upgrades or continuous improvements for modules in the company’s spend management suite as well as the related business processes.  Positive communication with team members and management is imperative.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Prepare, run and analyze eSourcing events (e.g. eRFI’s, eRFP’s, and Auctions) including communicating with internal customers to ensure that all of their needs and requirements are met in the events, conducting supplier training sessions to facilitate use of the eSourcing software, and preparing the award scenario.
  • Collect and cleanse spend data through plant inquiries (SAP and Non SAP), vendor sales reporting, QlikView Spend Analytics, SAP SQ01, PO data and/or payment data. Review information with Sourcing Managers and make recommendations while ensuring spend is classified correctly.  Remediate any misclassified spend or spend that does not comply with negotiated contracts, while correcting the root cause of the issue with the appropriate parties.
  • Perform onboarding of new or to be reactivated suppliers.
  • Input and manage the workflow of contracts in the contract lifecycle management system.
  • Monitor supplier performance. Work with internal cross functional teams and suppliers to eliminate performance gaps.
  • Prepare monthly reports on actual savings achieved in the current period versus prior year baseline.
  • Complete working capital improvement analysis and submit to Supply Chain Finance for approval and tracking.
  • Support working capital goals in the form of payment terms extensions and inventory reduction.
  • Provide support for supplier diversity reporting to GPI customers.
  • Supplier performance management and measurement support.
  • Prepare routine and adhoc management reporting packages (i.e. spend compliance, vendor scorecards, supply chain metrics) on an as needed basis.
  • Perform other Supply Chain Operations functions as assigned such as preparation of POs, supply chain guidelines, training documentation as well as performing training.
  • Ability to quickly utilize multiple purchasing tools and systems (e.g. SAP, eSourcing, contract lifecycle management, supplier onboarding portal, supplier performance tracking, TM1, QlickView, SharePoint, MS project, Visio, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Tableau, SAP SQ01 and SAP BI/BW, customer specific diversity portals).
  • Perform other duties and functions as assigned.

 

  • BACKGROUND / EXPERIENCE:
  • Must have Bachelor’s degree in engineering, finance, accounting, economics, statistics, supply chain or other related field.
  • MBA preferred.
  • 3-5 years of supply chain experience in a manufacturing organization
  • 3-5 years manufacturing experience
  • Previous sourcing and commodity analysis experience preferred

 

EDUCATION / KNOWLEDGE:

  • Must have advanced technology utilization skills including an understanding of ERP systems (SAP preferred)
  • Must have superior hands-on analytical experience with Excel and Access or other relational databases
  • Proven ability to analyze and stratify data from multiple sources into meaningful information.
  • Strong attention to detail
  • MS Project Management, Visio, eSourcing and contract management experience are a plus
