The Demand Planning Manager leads a demand team with the goal of providing the best demand signal every day to supply planning. This will be accomplished in part by working with Sales, Customers, and Customer Service counterparts to improve forecast inputs into the demand plan. This role is responsible for training and upskilling new and current team members. Preparing Sales and Operations Planning (S&OP) content for the Director, Sales & Operations Planning is an integral segment of the Manager role. This may include a portfolio review with documented changes vs prior month, KPIs, and trend insights.

 

This DP Manager is responsible for ensuring integrated data to the Advanced Planning System (APS) forecasting tool is accurate and timely. She/he identifies and addresses inconsistencies from integrated data via the host system(s) as well as customer EDI, sales templates etc., to ensure immediate and ongoing accuracy. The Demand Planning Manager partners with external individuals responsible for these inputs in a positive way to effect any needed changes.

 

This role provides presentation content for use in the Sales and Operations Planning (S&OP) monthly leadership meeting. She/he is responsible for the cadence of touchpoints, meetings, and process adherence needed to deliver accurate, timely unconstrained demand plans. The Demand Planning Manager also leads formal escalations for timely decision-making and appropriate resolution boundaries.

  • Lead the demand planning function for a specific group or business within the GPI portfolio.
  • Drive adoption of KPIs as they apply to Supply Chain success, as well as provide input to KPIs as they apply to Demand Planning success.
  • Lead the demand planning side of weekly Sales and Operations Execution (S&OE) including callouts to persistent demand anomalies and development of proposals for resolution.
  • Create awareness of unplanned events through accuracy KPIs and other reports and create models for improvement.
  • Lead peers and counterparts from tribal knowledge decision-making to reliance on the new APS and the importance of quality demand inputs required for a successful end-to-end supply chain organization within GPI.
  • Lead change management and adoption of GPI’s APS within scope of demand planning and be a key influencer outside of demand planning.
  • Continually work toward improved process and tool enhancement.
  • Prepare, deliver, and present within-scope portion of S&OP deck and be accountable for its content; bring recommendations to the meeting with options for improving production and converting signals
  • Liaise with Center of Excellence counterparts to ensure APS solution maintains functional integrity while offering insight from a practitioner perspective for continuous improvement.
  • Represent and be the “voice” of Demand Planning with Sales, Finance, and Customer Service counterparts to ensure timely, accurate inputs are provided that ensure optimal forecast creation.
  • Supervise daily operations of the Demand Planning Team and ensure proper and timely execution of all the corresponding tasks.
  • Identify demand planning issues and recommend and implement their resolution.
  • Provide critical thought, give input, and oversee follow through on strategic supply chain initiatives.

Required Experience

  • BS or BA in business, supply chain management, mathematics, science and/or engineering. Master or advanced degree (sciences or business) preferred.
  • 6-8 years of supply chain management, statistical modelling, and planning experience for a global or multi-plant manufacturing company.
  • Minimum of four years management experience preferred
