MISSION / SUMMARY:
The Director of Sales & Operations Support is responsible for all functions related to Commercial Management, Planning (Supply/Demand/Capacity) and Customer Service for the Division. The role will guide the Division’s S&OP Team through the monthly cycle of forecasting demand, developing the production strategy that will be deployed to meet the demand, and for providing the timely materials forecast to Supply Chain that will be required to support our production plan. This will include developing and implementing a demand planning process that delivers a rolling 18-month revenue forecast, as well as managing a product planning road map. Two core elements of this position to be successful are delighting the customer and protecting the company. The Director of S&OP should provide a voice of the customer perspective, while also working to protect the company by monitoring service levels and controlling working capital.
JOB FUNCTIONS: Job functions include but are not limited to the following.
- Pricing / Estimating: Close coordination with the pricing team to ensure alignment on our pricing strategy based on product mix, increase our win rate while limiting margin concessions.
- Customer Service: Work with Customer Service to ensure the customer service teams for National and Regional Accounts are driving proper Z-Rev processes for board planning, FIFO practices for RM and FGs, engaged / validating customer forecasting, etc. For the next two years, this role will play a key role in the successful roll out and implementation of PACG and One GPI. Work in close connection with the operations team to remove roadblocks that keep us under the 98% OTIF goal.
- Capacity Planning: Collaboration with the central capacity planning team to ensure we are optimizing our systems, vetting the accuracy level of our demand vs capacity plans, working with Dir of Ops to adjust staffing / OT accordingly.
- Logistics: Work with our logistics and the supply chain team to maximize rail utilization while reducing service gaps due to board availability. Work with Plants to increase truck utilization for FG shipments. Be in close coordination with the commercial team to look for opportunities to change freight mode to customer pick up or PPA. Focus on the warehouse optimization initiative to reduce overall external warehouse cost.
- New business onboarding: Work with plants and Customer Service teams to push for a smooth and fast onboarding process, ensuring all information is available for the MMR and NBO process while creating tracking mechanism to ensure accountability.
- Margin Enhancement / Distress Accounts: Work with VP/GM to develop a system and regular cadence of review for distress margin accounts, looking at options to improve margin.
- Inventory Management: Report and produce regular analytics for aged board and aged FGs. Collaborate with plants, customer service and board planners to consumed aged board (sub-board) and the commercial team to push aged FG shipments. Liaison with the Plant Production Control Departments to ensure best practices and standard procedures are consistently being followed in the areas of scheduling, materials supply, and logistical services.
- Financial Management: Work closely with FP&A to ensure that all S&OP decisions are vetted properly to fully understand the impact on the Division’s financial results. Use this understanding to develop and implement strategies that maximize shareholder returns.

- Optimize inventories to hit divisional working capital targets
- Optimize plant loading to maximize profitability by maximizing utilization of lowest cost assets
- Oversee implementation of all contractual pricing moves
- Support Project Catalyst deliverables within the region (Savings, synergies, expansions, rationalizations).
- New Business:
- Oversee on-time and error-free on boarding of all New Business to foster growth
- Service:
- Drive all functions to work towards industry leading customer Net Promoter Scores (VOC)
- Optimize division-wide plant loading to balance utilization and maximize OTIF
- Fiber Balance:
- Drive plans to meet commitments on Fiber consumption for the division
- Other:
- Filter and prioritize tasks to ensure employee resources needed to run the business are engaged in value added activities.
- Align Sales & Operations to work together in order to maximize value for the company
- Perform a leading role in the implementation of companywide initiatives (PACG, ONE GPI, etc)
BACKGROUND / EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor’s degree required, Master’s degree preferred, in Finance, Industrial Engineering, Operations Planning, or similar discipline.
- A minimum of 10 years’ experience managing various functions within a manufacturing company.
- A minimum of 5 years’ experience in S&OP or similar disciplines in a manufacturing company.

SCHEDULE DEMANDS:
- General schedule is an 8-hour M-F assignment, however, employee must be willing to work alternate schedules occasionally; that may include early mornings, nights, and/or weekends and be punctual while doing so.
- Occasional overnight travel to include flying, driving, riding or by rail.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- Sitting or standing for extended periods of time up to 8-hours.
