Foodservice Logistics Analyst



Reporting to the Dir., Supply Chain Optimization, the primary focus is to identify and implement logistics cost reduction opportunities within the Foodservice business.  This is an analytical role that requires extensive use of large data sets and the interpretation and clear presentation of the results and recommendations.  The position will make extensive use of existing reports, yet there will be ample opportunity for creativity to design new reports and visualizations using tools such as MS Excel, SQL, Qlik Sense, and other business intelligence (BI) tools.  The role will work closely with Foodservice Demand and Supply planning teams to review shipping site alternatives, identify freight costs associated with new business, and mitigate costs associated with manufacturing site changes.  Successful project implementation will require collaboration with other business and corporate functions such as Customer Service, Manufacturing and Global Logistics.




  • Develop and implement data-driven processes to identify high-cost freight lanes and work with the manufacturing plants, commercial teams, and customer advocates to reduce these costs.  This work will include identifying opportunities for customers to order in larger quantities at reduced frequency and for certain customers to order in full pallets. 
  • Review load planning procedures across the entire network to ensure all plants are following best demonstrated practices that balance on-time delivery requirements while minimizing freight expense.  Proactively recommend improvements to the existing processes.
  • Review and recommend modifications to sales policies to reduce logistics costs (i.e., order minimums and pallet requirements).
  • Periodically monitor customer orders for opportunities to ship direct from the manufacturing site.
  • Evaluate the logistics costs associated with business transfers.
  • Review and update as necessary preferred ship-from locations and other transportation related master data in QAD.
  • Assist the business in BF freight forecasting and variance analysis.
  • Review pallet specifications to ensure consistency across plants.



  • Develop and follow through on project charters for Formalize the Foodservice Freight and Logistics dashboard for monthly report out to the plants and business leadership.
  • Propose and gain alignment on key logistics cost reduction projects.  Track actual cost savings and identify risks.





  • Bachelor’s Degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Engineering, or related field. 
  • 1 to 5 years of experience in logistics or similar role.
  • Advanced proficiency in MS (Microsoft) Excel, and familiarity with SQL. 
  • Detail oriented with strong organizational, interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Must be able to prioritize workload and deliver to timelines.
  • Must be able to quickly build relationships with the plant operations, finance/pricing and other sales and operations support functions including customer service and demand/supply planning.
  • Ability to define problems, to collect data, to establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Possess intellectual curiosity and initiative.
  • Must be creative, resourceful, organized & able to work well independently & as part of a team.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced operational environment and handle multiple tasks.

  • Familiarity with Data Science skills such as regression and machine learning and programming tools such as R, Python, Power Query or Julia. 
  • Experience with BI reporting tools such as QlikView, Power BI or SAP Business Objects.
  • Consumer/food service packaging manufacturing industry experience and systems.

Salary Min:   $57,750.00

Salary Mid:   $76,965.00

Salary Max:  $96,180.00
