The Logistics Analyst role improves vehicle payload utilization (pallets per shipment) for prepaid outbound customer freight shipping from manufacturing sites within GPI’s Foodservice business. They understand and align business operations and logistics optimization as he/she executes their role to exceed customer expectations and align with GPI business, cultural, financial and operational objectives.


JOB FUNCTIONS: Job functions include, but are not limited to the following.

  • Must work within and adhere to the company’s core values of Integrity, Respect, Accountability, Relationships and Teamwork.
  • Work with the load planners at the plants and coordinate a daily review of planned orders to search for load consolidation opportunities.  Where needed, submit requests to the customer advocates to reach out to buyers to notify them of modified delivery dates.
  • Review load planning procedures across the entire network to ensure all are following best demonstrated practices that balance on-time delivery requirements while minimizing freight expense.  Proactively recommend improvements to the existing processes.
  • Work with the customer service team to review open orders to identify opportunities for order consolidations or increases to achieve desired truckload quantities.  Work with IT to modify existing reports or develop new reports showing historical order patterns to support the Customer Advocates in their negotiations with distributors.
  • Review open orders to ensure buyers are complying with contractual order minimums of per item full pallet quantities or full tier quantities.  Make sure pallet Ti/Hi parameters in QAD/SAP are accurate across all plants.
  • Maintain a list of customers and distributors who will NOT be required to order in truckload minimums and work with pricing to ensure the additional costs are accounted for in pricing or through other means.
  • Other duties as assigned.



  • 2-5 years’ experience in logistics, warehouse operations, shipment planning, customer service, purchasing, finance or other operations role in a manufacturing environment.



  • Bachelor’s Degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Engineering, Finance, Accounting, or related field or;
  • Compensatory closely related work experience required in lieu of degree.
  • Beginner to intermediate MS Access, PowerPoint, and Visio skills and intermediate to advanced MS Excel skills
  • Analytical skills and Experience with BI reporting tools such as QlikView or SAP Business Objects
  • Consumer/food service packaging manufacturing industry experience and systems



  • Intermediate proficiency in MS (Microsoft) Excel and Word
  • Detail oriented with strong organizational, interpersonal and communication skills
  • Must be able to prioritize workload and deliver to timelines
  • Must be able to quickly build relationships with the plant shipping departments, customer service and finance/pricing
  • Ability to define problems, to collect data, to establish facts, and draw valid conclusions
  • Possess intellectual curiosity and initiative
  • Must be creative, resourceful, organized & able to work well independently & as part of a team
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced operational environment and handle multiple tasks
  • Ability to collaborate and communicate with all levels of employees and management.
  • Ability to use technology to solve business problems



  • General schedule is an 8-hour M-F assignment, however, employee must be willing to work alternate schedules occasionally; that may include early mornings, nights, and/or weekends and be punctual while doing so.
  • Occasional overnight travel to include flying, driving, riding or by rail.



  • Sitting or standing for extended periods of time up to 8-hours.
  • Occasional Lifting up to 20 lbs.
  • Reading computer screen or other electronic devices.
  • Use of various office hand and electrical tools or equipment.
