Position Summary

The Logistics Director is a critical leadership role responsible for driving strategy, continuous improvement, and optimization across the company's global logistics operations. This individual will spearhead initiatives to increase efficiency, reduce costs, and enhance customer service levels through the strategic implementation of lean practices, automation technologies, and the seamless integration of logistics systems with the company's ERP, WMS, and TMS platforms.

Key responsibilities include analyzing current logistics processes, identifying areas for improvement, and developing and executing optimization strategies. A major focus will be on leveraging cutting-edge automation solutions, such as autonomous guided vehicles (AGVs) and autonomous mobile robots (AMRs), to streamline warehouse operations and material handling.

The Logistics Director will work closely with cross-functional teams, including business unit operations, supply chain, IT, and engineering, to ensure successful project implementation and ongoing operational excellence. This role requires a deep understanding of lean principles, logistics best practices, and the ability to drive change across a global organization.

 

Primary Responsibilities

Lean Logistics & Process Optimization:

  • Analyze and map current logistics processes, including inbound and outbound material flow, warehouse operations, transportation, and distribution, to identify bottlenecks, inefficiencies, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Develop and implement lean strategies and methodologies, such as value stream mapping, kaizen events, and continuous improvement initiatives, to optimize logistics processes and drive operational excellence.
  • Lead cross-functional teams in the planning, execution, and delivery of complex logistics optimization projects, ensuring alignment with business objectives and timely implementation.
  • Identify and implement best practices in logistics operations, leveraging industry standards and benchmarking against leading companies.

Automation, Systems & Data Analytics

  • Evaluate and recommend innovative automation technologies to enhance logistics operations.
  • Develop and implement strategies to optimize the utilization of automation solutions, ensuring seamless integration with existing systems and processes.
  • Analyze logistics data from various sources (ERP, WMS, TMS, etc.) to identify trends, uncover operational insights, and drive data-driven decision-making.

Project Management & Change Leadership:

  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement and change by effectively communicating project goals, milestones, and benefits to stakeholders at all levels.
  • Provide leadership, coaching, and mentoring to logistics teams, promoting best practices, and driving a culture of operational excellence.

Stakeholder Collaboration & Communication:

  • Build and maintain strong collaborative relationships with Senior Leaders, including operations, supply chain, IT, engineering, and procurement, to align logistics optimization initiatives with broader business objectives.
  • Communicate effectively with senior leadership, presenting complex data and project updates in a clear and concise manner.
  • Represent the logistics function in cross-functional meetings, providing subject matter expertise and advocating for process improvements and technology investments.
  • Engage with external partners, vendors, and industry groups to stay abreast of emerging trends, technologies, and best practices in logistics optimization.

Qualifications & Requirements

Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, industrial engineering, operations management, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in logistics, supply chain, or operations management roles, with a proven record of leading successful optimization projects.
  • Demonstrated experience in implementing lean methodologies, process improvement initiatives, and automation technologies in warehouse and logistics environments.
  • Direct experience with logistics automation and systems material is highly desirable.
  • Project management experience, with a strong understanding of project lifecycle methodologies and best practices.

  • Deep understanding of lean principles, supply chain management, logistics operations, and best practices.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyze complex data and identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to effectively convey complex ideas and concepts to diverse audiences.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate cross-functional teams.
  • Proficiency in project management methodologies, tools, and techniques.
  • Knowledge of data analytics, visualization, and reporting tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau).
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.

Pay Range:   $164,745.00 - $219,660.00
