MISSION / SUMMARY:

The Engineering Manager (Electrical Reliability) role was created to provide technical solutions to the GPI Mill operations.  The key customers are the owners and operators of GPI’s paper machines.  The key deliverables are Best Practices, Electrical technical support, problem solving, risk management and technical support for new projects. This role will provide technical and practical maintenance solutions to the Mill’s operations.  The key customers are mill leadership and maintenance leaders in the GPI mill division.  The key deliverables are best practices in maintaining equipment with a focus on electrical systems, problem solving, risk management, work processes, as well as Predictive and Preventative maintenance of electrical and instrumentation systems. 

 

 

 

JOB FUNCTIONS: Job functions include, but are not limited to the following.

The overall priority for this position is cost reduction and improved reliability for each of the mills and fostering best practices.

  • This position will manage all activities of the paper center of excellence and responsible for the safe operation of GPI assets, technical support to the mill leadership, development of systems to improve electrical reliability and control systems.  Control systems are broadly defined to include any closed loop control device independent of technology including but not limited to:  DCS, PLC, QCS, Drives, DC and AC motors, PID controllers and associated network, sensors/actuators.
  • This position will provide stewardship for division control systems, including strategic/tactical planning, design, implementation, changes/upgrades, and obsolesce management and support.
  • Other duties as assigned.

BACKGROUND / EXPERIENCE:

  • Preferred BS degree in Electrical or Chemical Engineering or 20 years of compensatory closely related work experience required in lieu of degree.
  • Must have developed resources and a network that enables problem solving
  • Must be able to demonstrate the ability to consistently bring value to the bottom line
  • Skilled at using technical tools for problem solving
  • Must be competent at developing work processes

 

EDUCATION / KNOWLEDGE:

  • Four-year degree Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical or Chemical Engineering preferred or; 20 years of compensatory closely related work experience required in lieu of degree.

  • Competent with Microsoft Excel, Work, Powerpoint, and Project
  • Must be highly skilled in demonstrating, teaching, and leading teams in root cause analysis, reliability best practices, reliability KPI’s, and tools like gap planning and pareto analysis.

 

 

SCHEDULE DEMANDS:

  • General schedule is an 8-hour M-F assignment, however, employee must be willing to work alternate schedules occasionally; that may include early mornings, nights, and/or weekends and be punctual while doing so.
  • Must be able to travel up to 100% with overnight travel to include flying, driving, riding or by rail.

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Sitting or standing for extended periods of time up to 8-hours.
  • Occasional Lifting up to 20 lbs.
  • Reading computer screen or other electronic devices.
  • Use of various office hand and electrical tools or equipment.
