Position Scope:

The Senior Development Manager is responsible for overseeing new product and product extension commercialization.  The manager will coordinate and manage teams of carton design, estimating and pricing, packaging machinery, order fulfillment, graphic services, sales and both mill and carton operations to drive growth platforms through packaging approval, internal execution, final testing and market launch.  Growth platforms to include corrugated, hi-cone and shrink film replacement, graphic enhancements, and other new product launches in the beverage packaging industry. 

Key Position Responsibilities: include but are not limited to the following:

  • Manages process to drive and track all aspects of projects, from packaging approval, estimating and pricing, internal execution, final testing, customer approval, and market launch. Leads, and manages commercialization teams made up of representatives from carton design, packaging machinery, estimating and pricing, graphic services, order fulfillment, carton manufacturing and operations who take the project after concept development through market launch; implements product requirements and tests, coordinates customer evaluations, develops die processes and graphics, obtains approvals, and production of initial order.
  • Interface between Customer, Sales, Carton Design, Packaging Machinery, Graphic Services, Order Fulfillment, and Manufacturing by providing regular project situational reporting.  Organizes and facilitates frequent meetings of representatives from each group to maintain project timelines.
  • Develops and implements project plans, processes, and schedules for timely project completion.
  • Communicates to all levels within Beverage Packaging and Graphic Packaging International reporting plans to meet or exceed marketplace needs.
  • Analyzes and evaluates product development performance and progress to goals and reports to Sr. Division Management on status and potential problems; takes corrective action as required to achieve plan expectations.
  • Attends line trials and customer interface meetings to support sales and manufacturing.
  • Streamline internal processes for the introduction of new products within design, graphics, estimating, operations, and packaging machinery.
  • Protects our Intellectual Property and Trade Secrets by managing information and relationships with customers and suppliers.

    Key Position Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Marketing, or Business Administration with a minimum of ten years’ experience in Product Development, Operations and Sales or Marketing in a folding carton environment is required.  An MBA is beneficial.  Previous Beverage Packaging experience preferred.
  • A minimum of 3 years of leadership experience is required.
  • Continuous improvement experience required; prefer certification in six sigma black belt.
  • Ability to accomplish results in a cross-functional and cross divisional team environment, exhibiting formal and informal leadership skills and a strong goal / results orientation.
  • Requires a thorough understanding of cross divisional disciplines from design to production.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills and the ability to represent the company at a high energy level.
  • Project Management skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines on a continuous basis.

Required Skills
