MISSION:
The Senior Manager, New Business Development is responsible for leading and supporting the creation of new business with customers through the commercialization of innovative new products. This role is focused on Tray and Cooking Solution technologies. They will lead initiatives within the platform to drive organic growth through development and commercialization of innovative packaging solutions. They will identify new opportunities for innovation and stay informed about emerging trends (technical, legislative, and market) to align portfolio development with market opportunities. The Senior Manager, New Business Development will work closely with Marketing, Design, R&D, and Commercial leaders to develop the innovation strategy and lead key projects as appropriate.
Position Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage large, complex projects across specification development, design, and testing, utilizing project management tools to ensure effective cross-functional coordination
- Identify and commercialize new product development (NPD) growth opportunities thru existing and new accounts in targeted categories
- Educate and support regional and national sales teams and customers in development of new and different packaging solutions
- Work with customer engineers and technical personnel, as well as the new product community to commercialize unique packaging opportunities that drive profitable growth
- Utilize expertise in materials, paperboard converting dynamics (printing, die cutting, finishing), and financial metrics (input costs, profitability, ROI, capital investment) to inform product development and commercialization strategies
- Collaborate with other members of the platform team in the management of large/complex projects
- Engage with customers to understand their needs and drive the development of new products
- Develop and implement strategies to mitigate competitive threats and anticipate market needs
- Maintain a good working knowledge of technologies used in the packaging industry by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies
Position Requirements:
- Experience: 7+ years in sales, product innovation, business development, or product management within the packaging industry or a related B2B/B2C environment
- Education: Bachelor’s degree required; MBA preferred
- Strong project management and organizational skills to handle multiple initiatives simultaneously
- Technical proficiency in packaging materials, printing or product/package production.
- Ability to build and present business cases effectively
- Excellent interpersonal, presentation, and communication skills, with the ability to engage professionally with internal and external stakeholders
- Self-motivated, highly organized, and capable of working independently with minimal supervision
- Strong negotiation and persuasion skills to drive business growth
- Proficiency in Windows-based programs and internet research
- Ability to travel 25%
Pay Range: $153,525 - $204,700
