A Sales and Operations Support Supervisor will supervise a team responsible for the tactical and strategic processes required to service our internal and external customers.  This team will consist of between two and six associates assigned to a specific customer base and will act as a lead contact for the account. A Supervisor will have responsibility for the day to day management of all or part of an account. They will ensure integrity and sustainability of the process through excellent data management within SAP, process monitoring, and execution of proven training practices. Supervisors will continuously align the process with Operations, Sales, and the Sales and Operations Support Services group as they manage the overall order fulfillment and inventory management processes to exceed customer expectations and align with GPI business, financial and operational objectives.


Essential Job Functions:

  • Assist the Sales & Operations Support Manager in the screening and interviewing of Sales & Operations Support Coordinators. The Sales & Operations Support Coordinator is responsible for day-to-day customer service functions within the SOS team.  This includes order entry, complaint handling, transportation tracking, material master creation, processing debits and credits and accounts receivable duties.
  • Responsible for training and development of Sales & Operations Support Coordinators, including but not limited to:
    • Developing and maintaining training protocol.
      • Identify and update changes to the training protocol as changes to the business occur and customer needs evolve.
    • Providing coaching and training on relationship management skills and communication behaviors
    • Responsible for evaluating Coordinator performance, formally communicating to management through “Success Factors” system, and conducting formal performance reviews with employees.
      • Working with Manager to develop annual performance targets and metrics for evaluation in “Success Factors” performance evaluation system.
    • Providing training on critical software systems as required; SAP, Microsoft Office products.
  • Monitor and manage the work schedules of the coordinators to insure effective completion of duties while minimizing overtime cost.
  • Responsible for daily management of inventory levels to insure customer satisfaction while minimizing cost impact to GPI. This includes, but is not limited to:
    • Development of production run strategies to effectively manage GPI cost, minimizing change-overs and make-readies, while insuring customer product fulfillment.
    • A specific focus on reducing and maintaining aged inventory target levels
      • Managing material transitions; minimization of product obsolescence.
    • Meeting department and division targets on working capital
      • Management of inventory at multiple GPI facilities
    • Acting as Liaison between Sales team, Production, Supply Chain, Transportation and Customer to insure movement toward single target result.
  • Support Manager in developing GPI Capacity Plan
    • Analyzing performance of production facility and processing historical sales information for input to plan
    • Analyzing and compiling customer forecast information.
  • Support the planning and execution of new business and the transfer of existing business between production facilities
  • Facilitate and lead customer / supplier communication meetings and calls
  • Report and present team metrics and performance to management.
  • Identify and resolve revenue leakage opportunities.
  • Insure compliance with all Company policies, procedures and processes.
  • Develop strong relationships with the customer base of the local team through involvement in projects, meetings and customer visits.
  • Involvement in special projects and ad-hoc reporting as required.

Required Skills

  • 2 -3 years of customer service, order fulfillment or supply chain experience.
  • Demonstrated positive team leadership experience
  • Demonstrated ability to train, coach, and develop others
  • Solid understanding of customer account management
  • Demonstrated understanding of and ability to manage the impact of order fulfillment on cash flow
  • Direct experience in Demand Planning, including development of production run strategies
  • Direct experience managing inventory at multiple holding facilities
  • General understanding and experience with ERP business applications. A strong knowledge of SAP is highly recommended. Expert-level user of Microsoft Excel is a must.
  • Proven ability to construct clear and effective written and verbal communication internally and externally

Required Experience

Educational Requirements:

Four-year degree in applicable field of study or equivalent work experience is required.
