Responsible for processing Engineering releases and for maintaining machine and section production orders, machine forecasts, and bill of materials which are used to calculate the required dates and quantities for the machine shop, fabrication and purchasing departments to provide parts to meet the production schedule. Responsible for organizing, scheduling, and placing parts with subcontractors. Must work well with all work groups to communicate and address scheduling issues to all departments, and cover the other coordinators required duties as well when absent.


  • Work with machine shop manager in determining what and how much work to farm out and when. Group parts for farm out and for in-house manufacturing that best fits the current and future work load. Communicate with farm out vendors by sending quote requests, models, drawings, engineering changes, schedule changes.
  • Communicate with manufacturing on hot parts, less than lead time machine orders and when necessary route less difficult parts to better meet due dates.
  • Update the Production Schedule report with part status.
  • Create machine production order upon receipt of a data sheet and estimate identifying the project number.
  • Process Engineering releases for machines being built at the PDC.
  • Transfer bills of material from PDM database, update machine production order, and create section production orders for engineering releases of machines and sections.
  • Process engineering change release, by changing machine and section production orders, and notifying fabrication, purchasing and materials on how they are affected by the change.
  • Communicate with Engineering, assembly, purchasing, parts department to assure machine & parts ship on time. (Crosby & Atlanta)
  • Plan, create, release, and compile Production Orders to meet MRP schedule deadlines.
  • Process engineering releases in SAP, create machine production order upon receipt of machine data sheet, and create production orders for customer’s orders.
  • Manage and prioritize changes to scheduled production requirements per Engineering releases, service parts orders, and machinery sales.
  • Communicate and negotiate scheduling issues with the production schedule with Materials, Parts Service, PDC/Atlanta, Machinery Sales, and Assembly Departments.
  • Provide support in handling Production Order errors and changes.
  • Maintain MRP Master Data to allow MRP to properly plan future production requirements.
  • Coordinate Scheduling activities in Machine Shop Manager’s absence.
  • Substitute components and operations to accelerate Production Order deliveries as required meeting their due dates.
  • Communicate component shortages to Purchasing to help expedite the components in a timely manner.
  • Daily run the exception and past due report.
  • Recognize unsafe working conditions and immediately report them to supervisor or lead person.
  • Good understanding of machine shop operations. 


Education/Experience:  Four years’ applicable college, Ability to read blueprints and determine manufacturing operations required, good clerical skills, good communication skills, and team worker. Computer experience required, to include: word processing, spreadsheet, E-mail. Manufacturing experience is a plus.
