MISSION / SUMMARY:
The Senior Counsel, Commercial will report to Graphic Packaging’s Assistant General Counsel. This role is ideal for an attorney who thrives in a fast‑paced corporate environment, enjoys partnering closely with business leaders, and brings strong judgment to a wide range of commercial matters. Experience or interest in sustainability, environmental compliance, or ESG initiatives is a significant plus.
You will serve as a trusted advisor across the organization, helping structure, negotiate, and execute commercial agreements, while ensuring the company’s operations align with legal, regulatory, and ethical standards.
This is an on‑site role requiring presence in the office at least four days per week to support close collaboration with internal stakeholders..
JOB FUNCTIONS: Job functions include but are not limited to the following.
- Must work within and adhere to the company’s Code of Conduct and Core Values of Integrity, Respect, Accountability, Relationships and Teamwork
- Work onsite a minimum of four (4) days per week
- Serve as strategic advisor providing clear, actionable, risk-based legal advice associated with commercial activities to internal stakeholders, including the executive leadership team, operations, and sales
- Draft, review and negotiate commercial sales agreements, non-disclosure agreements, strategic partnership agreements, and other agreements as required by the assigned business unit(s)
- Oversee and manage dispute resolution including commercial claims and litigation
- Oversee and manage various legal resources as needed to address identified issues
- Work independently, organize, and accurately prioritize work, be detail-oriented, understand when urgency is required and use good judgment in varied situations
- Take direction and accept supervision with a willingness to be flexible with time and adjust to a changing work environment
- Demonstrate a willingness to expand legal responsibilities into other areas of law, and take on additional administrative responsibilities and assignments
- Other duties as assigned
BACKGROUND / EXPERIENCE:
- 6-12 years of legal experience in a law firm or in-house with an emphasis on general commercial transactions
- Environmental law and/or sustainability regulations experience not required but is a plus.
EDUCATION / KNOWLEDGE:
- Juris Doctor from accredited law school with strong academic credentials
- Licensed to practice law and in good standing in the State of Georgia

- Open to working outside of comfort zone, learning new areas of the law, and embracing new challenges
- Excellent written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills with the ability to clearly convey practical legal advice to internal business stakeholders at all levels

- Strong contract drafting and negotiation skills

Pay Range: $189,400.00 - $252,600.00
