Title:  Specialist, Sr. Accounting

Mission:

Perform accounting functions requiring thorough knowledge of general accounting methods, principles and practices and a broad understanding of a corporate organization.  Develops and implements solutions to daily accounting issues and prepares accurate and timely financial reports and statements.

 

Critical Outcomes:

  • Perform the accounting and monthly close process for assigned activities which could include any of the following (i.e. fixed assets, rebates, revenue recognition, insurance, pensions, investments, cash, accruals, and other corporate accounting areas).
  • Provide timely and accurate reconciliations for assigned balance sheet accounts.
  • Research general ledger to solve problems and/or answer questions from management.
  • Prepare footnotes and/or supporting schedules for the Company’s SEC filings.
  • Ensure the continuous review and implementation of effective internal controls and accounting systems and processes.
  • Assist in maintaining and updating company policies and procedures.
  • Work closely with the external independent auditors.

 

Background/Experience/Education:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, on track for CPA required
  • Minimum of 2-3 years of work experience in a large corporate environment or large public accounting firm, which includes general accounting, corporate accounting, and knowledge of US GAAP and related interpretations.
  • Public accounting experience preferred but not required.
  • Manufacturing industry experience preferred but not required.
  • People or project management a plus.
  • Knowledge of Sarbanes-Oxley 404
  • Consolidations (HFM) and SAP a big plus
