Position Mission / Summary

As a Senior Accounting Specialist reporting to the Finance Manager you'll be providing the input to our business decision making with the aim of maximizing long-term value, cash flows and shareholder return in Americas Packaging Division. This position will focus on division level General Ledger accounting, supporting Purchasing initiatives for administrative and managerial departments all while upholding Compliance and Control policies for Graphic Packaging.  The ideal candidate will have three to five years in an Accounting role and will provide accurate and timely financial reporting to ensure we meet our business objectives. In addition, this position will offer the opportunity to work with cross functional teams to analyze data, provide management with a fair assessment of key projects including how we can optimize it in a way that helps to generate superior business results for the company; as well as support continuous improvement activities to achieve world class financial reporting standards.


Position Scope

Analytical support for all activities and processes of the division. Key processes include monthly close and divisional purchasing initiatives. Responsibilities also include: analysis and evaluation of the Division’s monthly operating results, balance sheet account reconciliations for divisional profit centers and administration for proactive care projects. This role will also provide analytical support for cross functional projects including but not limited to customer profitability analysis and pricing etc.


Position Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following.

  • Analysis of month end results: P&L and Balance Sheet including variance analysis
  • Support monthly close including Balance Sheet reconciliation and accurate Revenue and Expense oversight
  • Support cost center owners with understanding of their actual financial results
  • Administer proactive care projects for converting facilities
  • Provide support for divisional purchasing needs such as Goods Receipts, Invoice Processing, Accruals
  • Assist in maintaining and updating company policies and procedures
  • Work closely with the external independent auditors
  • All other duties as assigned 


Required Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a Business related field required
  • Proficiency in Excel, PowerPoint, and other Microsoft Office Suite tools
  • Strong analytical skills are preferred


Required Experience

  • 3-5 years in an Accounting/ Finance role
  • ERP systems experience required; for example: SAP, Oracle, etc.
  • Travel 10%
