MISSION / SUMMARY: This role is responsible for assisting in the preparation, review and analysis of required SEC external financial statements (10-Q, 8-K,10-K, 11-K) as well as other filings as they arise. These responsibilities include ensuring compliance with US GAAP and SEC regulations, as well as assisting with XBRL compliance. This role will assist in the research and implementation of new accounting standards, which will require staying current on proposed and existing guidance. This role will also assist in researching other accounting issues as they arise and document conclusions in accounting memos. This role will work directly with business partners including but not limited to treasury, corporate accounting, finance, investor relations and internal and external auditors. This position manages a team of professional accountants.

JOB FUNCTION: Job functions include, but are not limited to the following.

  • Manage the external reporting process, including timely preparation of the consolidated financial statements and SEC filings.
  • Responsible for drafting new disclosures to be included in the quarterly Form 10-Q and annual Form 10-K.
  • Manage the 10-Q,10-K and various press release tie-out processes.
  • Research technical accounting issues, develop accounting policies and recommends accounting methods and procedures using Generally Accepted Accounting Principles
  • Preparation of memorandums to support the company’s position as it relates to technical accounting, regulatory matters and proposed and actual transactions  
  • Coordinate annual goodwill impairment analysis.
  • Prepare and review equity and stock-based compensation activities and matters.
  • Lead and manage the development of best practice solutions to enhance the processes of the department and corporation.
  • Ensure the continuous review and implementation of effective internal controls and accounting systems and processes.
  • Act as a process owner for appropriate SOX processes and ensure compliance with the process.
  • Liaison with internal and external auditors to support quarterly and annual audit requirements.
  • Organize, staff, motivate, and lead a highly effective team of about 5 accountants. 
  • Develop and manage learning and development plans for the team members.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to quality performance by adopting a customer-based philosophy in level of service provided.
  • Assist the Corporate Controller in special projects.
  • Perform other related duties as required.

 

BACKGROUND / EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s degree, CPA required.
  • Minimum 7-10 years of experience which includes general accounting, corporate accounting and reporting, demonstrated strengths in leadership and interpersonal skills and knowledge of generally accepted accounts principals and related interpretation.
  • Big 4 Audit Experience.
  • Strong knowledge of US GAAP including accounting research and documentation.
  • Experience and knowledge of internal controls and Sarbanes-Oxley.
  • Experience with SAP a plus.
  • Supervisory experience.
