Title:  Supply Chain Optimization Intern

MISSION / SUMMARY:

Come help us optimize a $6B supply chain that supplies the packaging for many of the products you use every day.  You will be helping identify and drive projects that lower cost and improve service. Much of your job will involve analyzing data to ensure that the supply chain is running within acceptable cost and throughput ranges.  As you detect variances, you will work to identify the root cause and then recommend corrective actions.  These projects will then move into execution, and you will work with teams across the company to implement and sustain the improvements.   We have multiple projects going on at any given time in various phases, so you will get a chance to work on all parts of a project.

 

JOB FUNCTIONS:  Job functions include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Provide weekly reporting on current and past optimization projects to verify that the changes are sustaining.
  • Provide data analysis support to supply chain teams: Procurement, Planning, Logistics, and Manufacturing (Mills and Converting plants). You will be interacting with all parts of the business.
  • Identify new cost savings opportunities by analyzing supply chain data (planning, purchasing, inventory, and transportation).
  • Perform cost saving analysis from SAP and centralized SQL data using Qlik Sense, Tableau, Excel, and R.
  • Support data collection for Llamasoft Supply Chain Optimization modeling projects.
  • Develop actionable cost savings opportunities and then work within cross-functional teams to implement solutions.
  • Learn Qlik sense and build Qlik reporting and BI visualization apps. Work with a cross-functional team on the iteration of the design and incorporating using it in a specific business process.
  • Help with Llama soft optimization modeling and Qlik data to identify savings opportunities in Freight and Warehousing. Work with stakeholders to properly vet the identified opportunities and assist in writing them up as savings projects and aligning stakeholders for approval.
  • Assist with item segmentation analysis using forecast volatility and safety stock calculations for a specific portion of our converting business. Work with the factory scheduler and the supply planner on using the analytics to adjust parameters in the planning system (Kinaxis Rapid Response).
  • Take existing Excel-based reporting and design the automation of that reporting in the ERP system or utilizing Qlik.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 2nd year and above students pursuing a degree in Industrial Engineering, Engineering, Supply Chain, Statistics, Operations Research, or Analytics. Students must be returning to school after their internship. 
  • Understanding of Supply Chain concepts (Lean, Inventory Optimization, Lead Time, OTIF)
  • Background in statistics (common distributions, control charts, box plot, SPC)
  • Strong Excel background in working with data (SUMIFS(), VLOOKUP(), pivot tables, PowerQuery)
  • Experience working with large data sets 1M rows using SQL.
  • Required GPA 3.0 or higher.
  • Work Authorization: US Citizen, Permanent Resident (U.S.)

  • Work Period: Spring 2023
  • Work hours: 40 hours per week from 8am-5pm daily
