The Supply Planning Manager is responsible for short- to mid-term planning execution of paper board for the Foodservice Division at Graphic Packaging International (GPI). The Supply Planning Manager is responsible for weekly and monthly allocations of supply from the GPI mills to the Foodservice Converting plants, serving as the point of contact for all escalation matters.

 The Supply Planning Manager is responsible for overseeing the ordering process of each plant, monitoring to ensure plants are following allocation plans and reviewing projected inventory levels to mitigate non-strategic builds.  Further, he/she will own the prioritization process if timing issues of production create supply issues in the converting plants.

 The Supply Planning Manager will balance the Foodservice supply within the GPI network and escalate issues if/when necessary.  When Foodservice is notified of supply issues that will impact our ability to produce, he/she will work with the mill customer service team to balance across the GPI network to avoid FS plant shutdowns.  He/she will develop reporting to help proactively identify date slippage and mitigate the impact and will also develop OTIF reporting for the board delivery.

 This role provides presentation content to the Supply Planning Director for use in the sales and operations planning (S&OP) monthly leadership meeting. She/he is responsible for the cadence of touchpoints, meetings, and process adherence needed to deliver accurate, timely supply plans. The Supply Planning Manager also leads formal escalations for timely decision making and appropriate resolution boundaries.

Required Skills

  • Oversee the weekly and monthly ordering process of all 7 FS plants
  • Facility escalation process within the mill system to mitigate plant shutdowns
  • Develop and own proactive reporting to identify supply shortages and inventory overages
  • Monthly preparation and presentation of Supply Planning portions of S&OP process.
  • Lead cross functional teams to collaborate on root cause issues with Transportation, Tactical Planning, Operations, Mill customer service
  • Drive adoption of KPIs as they apply to Supply Planning success
  • Ensure short and medium-term product availability across region plants
  • Reduce aged inventory
  • Define service level guidelines for a region and numerous product groupings
  • Represent and be the “voice” of Strategic Planning with Sales, Demand Planning, Tactical Planning, and Customer Service counterparts to ensure timely, accurate inputs are proactively managed to ensure optimal order fulfilment

Required Experience

Education and Professional

  • BS or BA in supply chain management, science and/or engineering. Master or advanced degree (sciences or business) preferred
  • 5-8 years of supply chain experience in planning, customer service or logistics for a global or multi-plant manufacturing company with demonstrated increasing responsibility
  • Previous experience in paperboard packaging converting highly preferred
  • APICS certification preferred


Knowledge / Experience

  • Proven leadership and experience in an organization that has either developed and deployed or continually improved a robust S&OP/E process
  • Proven ability to influence stakeholders (especially manufacturing, Sales, and demand planning)
  • Ability to make effective recommendations to senior management.
  • Experience providing exceptional OTIF to an organization’s customers with demonstrated understanding of internal trade-offs that achieve corporate goals and objectives
  • Experience using data and exercising sound judgement to effectively solve problems
  • Experience working effectively in the face of ambiguity or shifting priorities while demonstrating flexibility and resilience in response to constraints, mistakes, and adversity
  • Deep domain knowledge in Supply Planning, Promotion Planning, Inventory Planning, and factory Master Planning.
  • Experience with ERP and APS (preferably Kinaxis RapidResponse, E2Open or o9)
  • Good understanding of and exposure to E2E Supply Chain best practices
  • Understanding of Lean / Six Sigma / root cause analysis, (e.g., 5 why’s)
  • Ability to work in a matrix structure
  • Ability to listen to others and link to others’ ideas
  • Attention to detail and a passion for data accuracy
