The primary mission is to ensure the timely setup, rollout, training and delivery of the company’s Transportation Management System to mills and converting facilities for use in creating outbound and inbound shipments to support load planning and carrier selection by the centralized corporate logistics team. Collaborate directly with customer service groups, sales/marketing personnel, plant purchasing, and plant shipping personnel to provide background and training on the Transportation Management System regarding its benefits to increase automation and solicit suggestions for improvements based on individual facility business requirements.  Directs workflow of facility shipping personnel during integration and rollout to ensure flawless end-to-end load planning and execution.

JOB FUNCTIONS: Job functions include but are not limited to the following.

  • Create schedule for training and coordinate with GPI locations’ shipping /load planning coordinators, shipping managers, and production schedulers in order to minimize data entry errors within the manufacturing system and in order to meet logistics and production goals.
  • Travel to facilities multiple times for discovery, training, and go live support
  • Responsible for developing implementation schedule, scheduling necessary meetings, and updating stakeholders, and change management post-implementation at new facilities.
  • Engage plants during implementation to proactively manage shipment issues and carrier/BU/SC questions until load planning transitions to the load control center.
  • Responsible for on-site go-live support for as long as plant requires operational support
  • Assist Manager with balancing LCC team workload and delegation according to Business Unit and GPI location needs once new location is live on TMS.
  • Responsible for training plant shipping operations staff and other stakeholders (plant procurement teams, customer service, finance, management, etc.) on TMS and data reporting systems functionality and “best practices” (QlikView, Tableau).
  • Set up Track and Trace for new carriers and train internal users on FourKites platform.
  • Provide carrier operational info and route guide adds & changes to Sourcing Managers/Analysts to create in TMS.
  • Actively work with existing contracted carriers and onboard new carriers in MercuryGate TMS to include system training (accepting tenders, requesting accessorials, etc.), meeting/exceeding operational requirements (service levels, equipment commitments, etc.), and service failures process (root cause, corrective actions).
  • Coordinate with BU and Ops Managers on operational issues such as mode changes (permanent or short term), GPI location short lead times, etc.
  • Implement and maintain company policy and standard operating procedures for GPI supply chain at newly acquired facilities
  • Proactively provide suggestions to business unit or facility to improve internal & external processes to automate workload, advance carrier performance, reduce issues to GPI end customers, improve GPI shipping, etc.
  • In conjunction with the Logistics Operations managers, Logistics Sourcing Managers, Support team, and Analytics team, work with internal and external parties to bring issues to complete resolution.
  • Maintain continuous contact with transport service providers through implementation phase to operations and secure and coordinate uninterrupted transportation services and materials flow
  • Provide strategic solutions for shipping issues to customer service groups, sales and marketing personnel, plant purchasing, and plant shipping personnel.
  • Actively maintain individual metrics that support individual, dept, and company goals.
  • Assist/Lead with other Transportation Operations related tasks/projects as needed.
  • Ensure adherence to all relative GPI policies & procedures.


  • 2-4 years of experience in Logistics utilizing a Transportation Management System.
  • Project Management experience
  • Proven ability to direct, lead and train diverse teams.
  • Strong analytical, interpersonal, organizational, verbal and written skills.
  • Ability to demonstrate a proficient ability to prioritize workload and deliver to timelines.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Ability to quickly learn and thrive in a fast-paced operational environment and handle multiple tasks.


  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • Minimum of 2 years related work experience in Logistics.
  • Advanced computer skills including understanding ERP systems (SAP experience a plus).
  • Intermediate proficiency in MS Excel, Word, PowerPoint and other analytical software tools.
  • Paperboard manufacturing industry experience is a plus.
