Technical Sales Consultant

This position could be home based in the Omaha area or based out of a Graphic Packaging manufacturing facility. Travel is required.

Scope

Manage and continuously improve GPI’s overall business relationship with our customers.

Successfully lead the achievement of GPI’s objectives and the customer’s objectives. Provide support to the sales account team. Interface with all management levels in GPI and customer. This position may potentially lead to a sales role.

Key Responsibilities

  • Achieve all GPI objectives including sales plan, working capital, profit improvement, quality improvement and customer service .
  • Achieve all customer objectives including cost reduction, innovation, quality improvement and customer service
  • Manage customer Scorecard & Weekly project Report.
  • Facilitate GPI plant audits for customer compliance.
  • Ensure Sustainability certificates are compliant
  • Facilitate pricing, SAP requests, and follow up with CSR on deadlines
  • Generate, develop, track and update productivity opportunities (Scorecard and GPI SharePoint)
  • Participate in regular business reviews with the customer at plants and corporate
  • Participate in weekly team meetings
  • Manage Capacity Roadmap internally and externally – concentration on plant consolidation.
  • Schedule technical sales coverage
  • Participate in customer on-site meetings
  • Supervise the qualification of new packages or package revisions for customer
  • Proactively lead the CI process with the customer
  • Stay current with new capabilities inside and outside of GPI
  • Seek innovative packaging solutions  
  • Be the first contact for customer productivity requests
  • Be an effective voice within GPI & the customer for quality and provide technical assistance in resolving issues
  • Generate cost reduction ideas to support internal profit improvement or customer objectives
  • Continuously develop relationships with various customer functional groups

Required Experience

 

  • Bachelor’s degree and 5 years demonstrated sales and management experience in the folding carton industry, or equivalent combination or experience and education.
  • 20-40% travel involved due to customer plant visits and on-site resource to customer
  • Weekly onsite coverage at Conagra Corporate in Omaha
  • Demonstrated knowledge of company services/products/capabilities to customers through personal meeting and formal presentations.
  • Rarely refer to supervisor for direction
