  The position includes the following responsibilities:

  • Responsible for leading all activities and functions driven towards execution of an effective Quality System.
  • Directs activities of suppliers, production, and customers to resolve quality problems and continuously improve the level of quality.
  • Represents Graphic Packaging International at customer locations, evaluating and resolving technical issues.
  • Provides leadership to Continuous Improvement Staff to optimize the role of CI within the plant. The CI Manager has been designated by Senior Management as the SQF Practitioner to develop, validate, verify and maintain the company’s Food Packaging Safety Plan. The SQF Practitioner may engage the services of an SQF consultant to support validation and verification of SQF Programs. The CI Supervisor will cover in the absence of the CI Manager.
  • Develop closed-loop quality system driven to reduce process variation and ensure plant compliance.
  • Act as change agent to drive continuous improvement of production and service processes to improve quality and increase efficiency, which includes root cause analysis and problem solving.
  • Develop and implement product quality plans and procedures by overseeing gauge requirements, frequency, responsibility and methods to ensure compliance to process and product specifications.
  • Direct activities, duties, and projects of CI personnel.
  • Lead and coordinate the Annual plant review of Safe Quality Foods (SQF) system, internal audit/schedule, and Coordinate SQF third party audits.
  • Lead and coordinate the Safety program plant wide.
  • Other duties as assigned
  • Ensure the location complies with all applicable EHS laws and regulations and corporate policies.
  • Manage all regulatory reporting requirements, permitting processes, and response to regulatory activities, inspections, and citations.
  • Ensure all required environmental air, water, waste, and stormwater activities are scheduled, completed, and properly documented and reported.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain effective systems and procedures to achieve an accident and environmental incident free location.
  • Maintain/Implement location and company health and safety programs to identify and reduce risk.
  • Lead Safety and Environmental training activities for site.
  • Manage safety initiative process and tracking systems, including LIFE and critical safety inspection process.
  • Manage hearing conservation program for site.
  • Organize site IH surveys as required. 
  • Provide visible and active leadership in delivering excellent safety results.
  • Coordinate with Operations to optimize department safety performance.
  • Compile required HSE reports and metrics







  • General schedule is an 8-10 hour M-F assignment, however, employee must be willing to work alternate schedules occasionally; that may include early mornings, nights, and/or weekends and be punctual while doing so.
  • Be available for calls from plant for guidance as needed.
  • Occasional overnight travel to include flying, driving, riding or by rail.




    • Sitting, walking, standing continuously, depending on job assignment, for extended periods
    • Ability to twist neck and back and fingering frequently (34-66% of the time)
    • Ability to balance, stoop, bend, squat, climb, twist, handle, feel, reach above shoulder level, at or below shoulder level, over 18” and to reach to the floor, and kneel occasionally (1-33% of the time)
    • Lifting up to 20 lbs occasionally (1-33% of the time)
    • Typing and computer skills are essential
    • Requires repetitive use of both hands for simple grasping on an occasional basis; for use in administrative type work, computer, filing, copying, phone use, talking, simple grasping (1-33% of the time)
    • Ability to read, write, hear, see, speak
    • Ability to see colors and hear alarms
    • Reading computer screen or other electronic devices
    • Work in areas of fluctuating temperature and loud noises
    • PPE required: Steel-toed/safety footwear, Safety Glasses, Hearing Protection, Cut resistant Safety Gloves, Hair Net, Beard Net

Required Skills



  • AIB / SQF Practitioner or experience preferred.
  • Prior management or supervisory experience preferred.
  • Good general knowledge of printing and converting technologies preferred.

  • 3-5 years ‘experience in quality, safety, manufacturing, or equivalent combination of education and experience.





  • Trained or knowledge of SQF prerequisites including GMP, Food Defense, etc.
  • Trained in SQF 2000, HACCP Certified
  • Working knowledge of Statistical Process Control theories
  • Experience in implementation of technical testing in production environments
