JOB SUMMARY: The Operator Assistant will safely control various machines and equipment involved in production.

JOB FUNCTIONS: Job functions include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Assists the operator in production machinery in accordance with prints and specifications.
  • Produces the required quantity of parts within establishes specifications and tolerances.
  • Obtains job tickets and reviews prior to running orders.
  • Measures finished parts with precision tools, ensuring compliance with function, quality, and cosmetic specifications.
  • Maintains logs and records units produced including a record of errors resulting in rejected or discarded pieces.
  • Maintains a clean, safe and orderly work area.
  • Ensures that appropriate contact relief is made, and machine hand-offs occur during shift changes.
  • Performs preventive maintenance.
  • Works as an assistant leader of the crew, overseeing feeders, packers and inspectors working on the machine.
  • Other duties as assigned.

SCHEDULE REQUIREMENTS: Schedules are 8-hour shifts Mondays – Fridays. However, employees must have the ability to work alternate schedules and overtime that may include early mornings, nights, and/or weekends and be punctual while doing so. 

Required Skills


  • LANGUAGE SKILLS - Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization. Bilingual in English/Spanish is a plus.
  • MATHEMATICAL SKILLS - Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
  • REASONING ABILITY - Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.


  • High School Diploma, GED or equivalent required.
  • Heavy mechanical/operator level skills in a manufacturing environment.
  • Must have knowledge of mechanical and pneumatic components.
  • Ability to follow directions and work well in a team environment.
  • Trained knowledge of mechanical and pneumatic components.
  • Thorough understanding of or the ability to quickly learn production equipment.
  • To perform this job successfully, an individual must have excellent attendance, be able to work independently and be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

  • Standing, depending on changing job assignment, for extended periods.
  • Awkward and/or repetitive movements
  • Ability to bend/stoop, squat, crawl, climb, reach above shoulder level, kneel, balance, push/pull, twist and perform robotic motions continuously
  • Lifting up to 50 lbs. continuously and up to 74 lbs. frequently
  • Requires use of both feet on a continuous basis
  • Requires use of both hands for simple grasping, firm grasping, fine manipulation and repetitive actions on a continuous basis
  • Ability to read, write, hear, see, speak and have agility on a continuous basis
  • Reading computer screen or other electronic devices
  • Use of various hand and electrical tools and equipment
  • Work in areas of fluctuating temperature
  • PPE required: Steel-toed/safety footwear, Safety Glasses, Hearing Protection, Cut resistant Safety Gloves, Hair Net, Beard Net

Required Experience


  • Manufacturing experience required.
  • 2-4 years of prior experience in similar role required.
  • Experience operating hand jacks, electric pallet jacks and forklifts preferred
