JOB SUMMARY: The Production Supervisor provides leadership to production shift teams and is an integral part of plant management. They drive shift performance to achieve results consistent with company direction and goals and work to develop the team members to their full potential. The Production Supervisor is responsible for safety/housekeeping, product quality, production efficiency, and equipment condition while on shift. The Production Supervisor also has the responsibility, authority and accountability for job assignments, work priorities, and overtime requirements.



JOB FUNCTIONS: Job functions include, but are not limited to the following.


  • Directs and coordinates the day-to-day shift activities, by providing leadership and supervision to direct reports.
  • Serves as the link between direct reports and middle / upper management.
  • Plans production operations, establishing priorities and sequences for manufacturing products, utilizing knowledge of production processes and methods, machine and equipment capabilities, and human resource requirements and capabilities.
  • Makes decisions on job assignments and work priorities
  • Reviews production and operating reports and resolves operational, manufacturing, and maintenance problems to ensure minimum costs and prevent operational delays and downtime.
  • Responsible for equipment condition and department housekeeping
  • Researches, complies and prepares reports, correspondence, and other information required by management, as well as, identifies and resolves report discrepancies or errors.
  • Works with employees to maintain a safe work environment. Leads and supports direct reports to work in a safe manner and to seek improvements in work practices.
  • Ensures that product quality and production efficiencies meet or exceed established standards.
  • Examines procedures and recommends changes to save time, labor, and other costs and to improve quality control and operating efficiency.
  • Observes direct reports to ensure compliance with safety, quality, and productivity standards.
  • Verifies completeness and accuracy of direct reports’ work, computations, and records.
  • Participates in work of direct reports to facilitate productivity or overcome difficult aspects of work.
  • Instructs direct reports in job duties or arranges for training to be provided.
  • Facilitates team meetings, intervenes as necessary to keep the team’s goals and results consistent with company direction, and works with the team members to develop their full potential.
  • Initiates and conducts personnel actions such as discipline, performance evaluations, and payroll.
  • Evaluates direct report job performance and recommends appropriate personnel action.
  • Administer, communicate and interpret work procedures and company policies to direct reports
  • Provides direct reports with guidance in handling difficult or complex problems and in resolving grievances or submits unsettled disputes to management.

  • Monthly P&L specific to manufacturing attributes

Required Skills



    • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.  Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.  Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization. Bilingual in English/Spanish is a plus.
    • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.  Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
    • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.  Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
    • MS Office and database programs
    • Requires use of all general office equipment (e.g. fax, copier, telephone, etc.)









  • General schedule is an 8-hour M-F assignment, however, employee must be willing to work alternate schedules occasionally; that may include early mornings, nights, and/or weekends and be punctual while doing so.



    • Standing/walking production floor for 8-10 hour shifts
    • Ability to twist neck and back and fingering frequently (34-66% of the time)
    • Ability to balance, stoop, bend, squat, climb, twist, handle, feel, reach above shoulder level, at or below shoulder level, over 18” and to reach to the floor, and kneel occasionally (1-33% of the time)
    • Lifting up to 10 lbs occasionally (1-33% of the time)
    • Typing and computer skills are essential
    • Requires repetitive use of both hands for simple grasping on an occasional basis; for use in administrative type work, computer, filing, copying, phone use, talking
    • Ability to read, write, hear, see, speak
    • Reading computer screen or other electronic devices
    • Work in areas of fluctuating temperature and loud noises
    • PPE required: Steel-toed/safety footwear, Safety Glasses, Hearing Protection, Cut resistant Safety Gloves, Hair Net, Beard Net

  • Previous production leadership.
  • Compensatory closely related work experience required in lieu of degree.
