Title:  Scheduler/Production Planner

The purpose of the Scheduler/Planner role is to coordinate the flow of work and materials between all departments of the plant. The Schedule/Planner will procure all raw materials needed for the production process.  The Scheduler/Planner will create the production schedule and review work orders and establish priorities for specific customer orders based on customer service direction.  The Scheduler/Planner will also adjust schedule according to work order specifications, establish priorities, and evaluate availability or capability of workers, parts, material, machines, and equipment.


Required Skills

  • Create and update the production schedule for the entire production plant.
  • Plan production orders to meet schedule deadlines.
  • Provide have readies to CS team for all production orders.
  • Ensures schedule meets shipping commitments to all customers.
  • Communicate and negotiate scheduling issues with CS team and production team.
  • Daily run the exception and past due report.
  • Procure paperboard and other raw materials needed for production orders and arrange incoming freight for these materials.
  • Ensure raw materials (including ink and coating) and tooling will be available when needed to align with the production schedule.
  • Create job closeouts and review the data with appropriate team members.
  • Review daily production entry to ensure data was properly entered into ERP system.
  • Work with Corporate Capacity Planner to determine work to subcontract out and when as well as create line load and capacity plans.
  • Review work in process (WIP) inventories and finished goods (FG) to maintain appropriate inventory levels.
  • Demonstrate a sense of urgency in all aspects of job responsibilities; Responds in a timely manner and ensures tasks are competed without being asked to do so.
  • Must work well with all levels of the organization to communicate and address scheduling issues.
  • Effectively communicate production schedules to personnel in sales, customer service, managers and supervisors.

 

Background / Experience:

  • 2-5 years’ experience in a machine shop or manufacturing environment preferred.
  • Demonstrated use Microsoft Office required.
  • Demonstrated communication skills both verbal and written.
  • Action oriented and demonstrated ability to work with limited direction.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively use organizational skills to perform administrate tasks, effectively manage time and successfully manage multiple tasks.

 


Required Experience

  • College Degree or Minimum of 5 years in Operations or Scheduling/Purchasing experience recommended
  • Proficient understanding & knowledge of inventory control and ERP systems
  • Experience using Excel spreadsheets, pivot tables, and advanced cell formulas
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Able to influence others without being in a role of authority
