Position Responsibilities

  • Customer claims
    1. Manage all correspondences with customer claims. This involves investigating, subsequent testing, documentation of findings within SAP, and prompt communication with the Customer Technical Services group.
    2. Organize complaint information for review with appropriate department management and crews
    3. Work with quality management when formal corrective actions are required for a customer.
    4. Accurately enter complaint information into the mill’s complaint database
    5. Enter transit related claims into EasyClaim
  • Proficy Test Data
    1. Review customer COAs (certificate of analysis) that are quarantined due to a test issue and resolve conflict.
    2. Review daily test exception reports and resolve conflicts
    3. Perform periodic audits of Proficy entries
  • Attend daily paper machine focus meetings
  • Assist with paper machine / PS&D trials
  • Assist with customer visits
  • Managing the calibration and verification of equipment within QA and other departments. Analyze calibration trends.
  • Manage the customer outturn storage area
  • Manage collecting and sending samples for microbiological testing
  • Manage inventory of lab supplies and order as necessary
  • Manage monthly testing by Collaborative Testing Services
  • Support the day lab manager and QA manager as needed

Required Skills

Position Requirements

  • Highly organized: attention to detail, time management, and self motivation
  • Ability and willingness to understand papermaking, paper testing, and customer processes
  • Ability and willingness to become proficient in various mill information systems, e.g. Primary Production Recording (PPR), Plant Applications (Proficy) including the COA system, SAP, PPR Webapps, Millview
  • Proficient in computer applications including Microsoft Excel (including the Plant Applications Excel Add-in), MS Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Coated Board experience (preferred) - previous work on the paper machine in understanding defects associated with coated board
  • Communication skills – able to appropriately communicate customer issue throughout all levels of the organization (quality management, Finished Products crews and management, Customer Technical Services, etc) both verbally and written.
  • Good interpersonal skills – easy to approach, positive attitude, good listener, inquisitive
  • Safety oriented
  • Customer oriented and good team player: courteously responds to requests for information from customers, sales, customer technical services, and mill operations groups.
  • Organizational – ability to keep track of all current customer complaints issues at various levels of review
