Title:  Assistant Superintendent II-Maintenance Electrical

MISSION / SUMMARY:

The Assistant Superintendent II – Maint (E&I – Mill wide) will be responsible for managing the E/I maintenance workforce at the Augusta Mill.  This is a leadership role where the individual is responsible for providing direction, guidance and support for all direct and indirect reports. Individual will be primarily responsible for the safety, efficiency, productivity, engagement, and overall effectiveness of the area maintenance workforce focusing on strategic planning for the team. 

 Specific responsibilities include the continuous improvement of reliability systems including: MOPS, planning, work execution, developing procedures, supervising salaried planners, and ensure that other preventive E/I maintenance and equipment care efforts are systemized and implemented effectively. The role also includes development and execution of a five-year area reliability improvement and equipment maintenance strategy, development and execution of the annual repair budget.

JOB FUNCTIONS: Job functions include but are not limited to the following.

  • Partners with Operations Maintenance Coordinator and Process Supervisor to ensure efficient planning and coordination of maintenance work.
  • Responsible for daily and annual outage maintenance planning throughout the mill
  • Daily effective communication with hourly and salaried maintenance E/I personnel.
  • Directs Salaried planners and contractors to ensure compliance with safety, quality and specs and standards requirements.
  • Effectively ensures that there is a sufficient planned work order backlog to schedule weeks in advance.
  • Ensures that Equipment SAP functional Locations, BOM’s and PMs are reviewed and accurately deployed to support the maintenance department.
  • Ensures Contracted PM’s and Mill PMs are in cost effective and in compliance with mill standards and specs.
  • Ensures all necessary work orders, including PMs, are presented to the MOPs team by ABC cruciality for scheduling.
  • Participates in Maintenance weekend duty rotation as assigned.

BACKGROUND / EXPERIENCE:

  • Five plus years’ progressive and practical pulp and power instrumentation and electrical experience.
  • Previous supervisory experience managing salaried and hourly employees preferred

 EDUCATION / KNOWLEDGE:

  • BS Degree in Engineering or equivalent technical experience (Electrical Engineer Preferred)
  • Five plus years of relevant maintenance management experience
  • Five plus years of Supervisory experience
  • Thorough knowledge of reliability concepts and application
  • Demonstrated leadership
  • Demonstrated ability to create and sustain change
  • Demonstrated ability to engage a work force
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Proactive problem solver

 SCHEDULE DEMANDS:

  • General schedule is a 9-hour M-F assignment, however, employee must be willing to work alternate schedules occasionally; that may include early mornings, nights, and/or weekends and be punctual while doing so. Occasional overnight travel to include flying, driving, riding or by rail.

 PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Sitting or standing for extended periods up to 8-hours.
  • Occasional Lifting up to 20 lbs.
  • Reading computer screen or other electronic devices.
  • Effective use of various electrical and instrumentation testing equipment and tools.
