Accounting Lead

 

MISSION / SUMMARY:

The selected candidate will be assigned to the Finance Staff Group at the Augusta Mill.  This position requires daily interaction with mill operations as well as routine and adhoc financial assignments.  These assignments can include measuring progress against mill objectives, analyzing business results, developing annual budgets / strategic plans and weekly forecast preparation.

 

JOB FUNCTIONS: Job functions include, but are not limited to the following.

  • Lead role in managing raw material receipts and inventory flow
  • Reconcile and maintain records for materials delivered by rail
  • Review/analyze key performance measures and variances
  • Monthly reporting and communication of financial performance against targets.
  • Ensure accurate and timely reporting / analysis to support and identify mill opportunities and /or areas of concern.
  • Ensure compliance of internal controls on all transactions involving company assets and interests, including legal, state and local taxes and insurance claims.
  • Provide vendor support to maintain timely processing of invoices and invoice audits.
  • Provide backup to mill payroll.
  • Ensure that the facility maintains accurate books and records in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles and business is conducted in compliance with established corporate, sector and division policies, procedures and practices. 

 

BACKGROUND / EXPERIENCE:

  • 3 years’ experience in accounting or finance using SAP or similar Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems experience.

 

 EDUCATION / KNOWLEDGE:

  • Education – Associates Degree in Finance, Accounting or related discipline preferred.  
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills and the ability to work effectively with others.
  • Proficient using spreadsheet programs (Microsoft Excel) and other databases
  • Industry exposure and manufacturing process knowledge preferred
  • Familiarity with company policies and procedures and various financial systems.
  • General knowledge of financial analyses (Variance reporting, Budget development and forecasting).

 

SCHEDULE DEMANDS:

  • General schedule is an 8-hours M-F assignment, however, employee must be willing to work alternate schedules occasionally; that may include early mornings, nights, and/or weekends and be punctual while doing so. Occasional overnight travel to include flying, driving, riding or by rail.

 

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Sitting or standing for extended periods of time up to 8-hours; Ability to work overtime.
  • Occasional Lifting up to 20 lbs.
  • Reading computer screen or other electronic devices.
  • Use of various office hand and electrical tools or equipment
