OPPORTUNITY: We are a folding carton manufacturing operation seeking candidates to join the Augusta Mill as a Maintenance E&I Associate. The Maintenance E&I Associate starting a rate of pay is $22.78 for external candidates and $25.55 for internal candidates. JOB SUMMARY: We are looking for dependable people with excellent problem-solving, learning, communication and teamwork skills to fill our Maintenance Associate position. This new position will assist journeyman-level E&I in routine maintenance work as well as performing many duties independently.

 

Duties for the Maintenance E&I Associate include, but are not restricted to, electrical circuit troubleshooting & repair, conduit & wire installation, lighting repair, PLC troubleshooting & repair, drive troubleshooting & repair, Instrumentation & control valve calibration, troubleshooting & repair, and HVAC work.

 

JOB FUNCTIONS: Job functions include, but are not limited to the following.

  • Understands importance of and complies with Mill and department safety and environmental policies, procedures and practices
  • Maintain a safe work environment for yourself and other associates
  • Troubleshooting and servicing all production and support equipment within the facility in a safe and efficient manner while ensuring minimal downtime.
  • Provides technical support by operating a variety of electrical testing equipment in locating and determining types of electrical malfunctions within the mill.
  • Studies plans, drawings, specifications, and work orders to determine work requirement and sequence of repairs and/or installations.

BACKGROUND / EXPERIENCE:

  • Associate or technical degree in Instrumentation or Electrical
  • Relevant work experience in an industrial environment.
  • Strong math/physics understanding.
  • Instrumentation background on the E&I side

 

SKILLS:Commitment to safety and quality

  • Knowledge of basic manufacturing practices and strong problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to learn through self-directed study and desire for advancement
  • The ability to work independently and in a team environment
  • Maintains cooperative working relationships, demonstrates a positive attitude and consideration towards fellow employees and supervision.

 

  • EDUCATION / KNOWLEDGE:
  • High school diploma or GED
  • Basic computer skills
  • Able to function in a team environment.

AND one of the following

  • One (1) year experience in any of the following Maintenance Skill Areas: INSTRUMENTATION, ELECTRICAL

OR

  • One (1) year vocational/technical education in the Instrumentation Electrical Disciplines: INSTRUMENTATION, ELECTRICAL

 

SCHEDULE REQUIREMENTS:

  • General schedule is a Monday through Friday 8-hour assignment, however, employee must be willing to work alternate schedules occasionally; that may include early mornings, nights, weekends, and/or holidays and be punctual while doing so.
  • Work any shift and/or a rotating shift schedule
  • Work overtime on a regular basis and with last minute notification
  • Work holidays and/or weekends on a regular basis

 

  • PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
  • Sitting or standing, depending on changing job assignment, for extended periods.
  • Awkward and/or repetitive movements.
  • Lifting up to 50 lbs.
  • Reading computer screen or other electronic devices.
  • Use of various hand and electrical tools and equipment.
  • Work in areas of fluctuating temperature.
  • Wear required personal protective equipment (hard hat, earplugs, steel-toed boots, safety glasses at a minimum)
  • Ability to operate or work in industrial conditions - may be warm/hot, dusty/dirty, around hazardous chemicals, noise, heavy machinery or elevated working surfaces (with proper safety training and safety protection)
  • Frequent walking, bending, stooping, crouching, reaching, grasping, and climbing.
  • Ability to move wrists, hands, and/or fingers to turn valves and make adjustments to equipment.
  • Ability to climb ladders and work in high places.
