OPPORTUNITY: We are a folding carton manufacturing operation seeking candidates to join the Augusta Mill as a Maintenance Millwright (J1). JOB SUMMARY: We currently have openings for Millwright Mechanic (J1) candidates who has a passion for safety, is a self-starter, takes initiative, can communicate effectively, and can work independently in a manufacturing environment.  This position will be responsible for troubleshooting, modifying, proper repair, precision installation, successful start-up, and reliability of all facility equipment.

 

JOB FUNCTIONS: Job functions include, but are not limited to the following.

  • Understands importance of and complies with Mill and department safety and environmental policies, procedures and practices
  • Maintain a safe work environment for yourself and other associates
  • Troubleshooting and servicing all production and support equipment within the facility in a safe and efficient manner while ensuring minimal downtime.
  • Provides technical support by operating a variety of electrical testing equipment in locating and determining types of electrical malfunctions within the mill.
  • Studies plans, drawings, specifications, and work orders to determine work requirement and sequence of repairs and/or installations.

BACKGROUND / EXPERIENCE:

  • Minimum Journeyman skill level experience in a industrial mechanical systems.
  • Mechanical includes experience in the following areas: Rotating Equipment, Bearings, Precision alignment, Product Moving Systems, Power Transmissions, Oil Seals, Mobile Equipment, and Gear Reducers.
  • Pulp and Paper industry experience a definite plus.
  • Industry experience is a plus

EDUCATION / KNOWLEDGE:

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Basic computer skills
  • Able to function in a team environment.

 

 SCHEDULE REQUIREMENTS:

  • General schedule is a Monday through Friday 8-hour assignment, however, employee must be willing to work alternate schedules occasionally; that may include early mornings, nights, weekends, and/or holidays and be punctual while doing so.
  • Work any shift and/or a rotating shift schedule
  • Work overtime on a regular basis and with last minute notification
  • Work holidays and/or weekends on a regular basis

 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Sitting or standing, depending on changing job assignment, for extended periods.
  • Awkward and/or repetitive movements.
  • Lifting up to 50 lbs.
  • Reading computer screen or other electronic devices.
  • Use of various hand and electrical tools and equipment.
  • Work in areas of fluctuating temperature.
  • Wear required personal protective equipment (hard hat, earplugs, steel-toed boots, safety glasses at a minimum)
  • Ability to operate or work in industrial conditions - may be warm/hot, dusty/dirty, around hazardous chemicals, noise, heavy machinery or elevated working surfaces (with proper safety training and safety protection)
  • Frequent walking, bending, stooping, crouching, reaching, grasping, and climbing.
  • Ability to move wrists, hands, and/or fingers to turn valves and make adjustments to equipment.
  • Ability to climb ladders and work in high places.
