JOB FUNCTIONS: Job functions include but are not limited to the following.
- Responsible for direct supervision of production crew utilizing competencies of successful first line leader (see competencies below).
- Provide for development and implementation of training for direct reports.
- Responsible for safe work environment, including conducting daily safety meetings, observations and correcting unsafe behaviors and conditions.
- Encourages and motivates crew members to complete on-shift safe behavior planning.
- Safety Leader for EHS Department.
- Provide documentation/record keeping for training and qualifications.
- Assigns responsibility for tasks and decisions.
- Responsible for meeting and exceeding established quality goals for Filter Plant and Sludge Plant.
- Audit work systems to ensure consistent operation (rounds, logs, check sheets, inspection procedures, TCC’s etc.).
- Increase crew engagement.
- Direct maintenance tasks to be completed on shift.
- Participate on daily MOPS calls.
- Effective communication and planning between departments.
- Annual outage support and routine outage support.
- Ensuring lock-out tag-out on equipment is performed correctly.
- Conducting one-to-ones with direct reports.
- Backup support for Environmental Engineer on compliance monitoring.
- Knowledge in lab testing protocols for water quality and wastewater process monitoring.
SCHEDULE DEMANDS:
- This is a salaried position that works Monday – Friday, 40 hours/week. Expectations include working a rotating weekend coverage schedule providing EHS support to the mill.
- The Supervisor is expected to be available during shut-downs and upset conditions which can occur at any hour of the 24 hour day.
- Supervises up to 10 employees.
- The work crews at the Filter and Sludge Plants work a rotating 12 – hour crew shift schedule.
Required Skills
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Sitting, standing, walking depending on changing job assignment, for extended periods.
- Awkward and/or repetitive movements.
- Lifting up to 50 lbs.
- Reading computer screen or other electronic devices.
- Use of various hand and electrical tools and equipment.
- Work in areas of fluctuating temperature.
- Wear required personal protective equipment (hard hat, earplugs, steel-toed boots, safety glasses at a minimum)
- Ability to operate or work in industrial conditions - may be warm/hot, dusty/dirty, around hazardous chemicals, noise, heavy machinery or elevated working surfaces (with proper safety training and safety protection)
- Frequent walking, bending, stooping, crouching, reaching, grasping, and climbing.
- Ability to move wrists, hands, and/or fingers to turn valves and make adjustments to equipment.
- Ability to climb ladders and work in high places.

Required Experience
BACKGROUND / EXPERIENCE:
- 3 - 5 years supervisory experience in manufacturing, preferably in a water and wastewater operation.
EDUCATION / KNOWLEDGE:
- High School diploma or GED is required.
- An Associates or BS degree in; chemical or mechanical engineering preferred.
- Equivalent operations experience will also be considered.
