Title:  Finishing Gluer Operator

FINISHING OPERATOR JOB SUMMARY:   Responsible for safely and efficiently operating production equipment, while producing a quality product. Understand and align business operations and the Department as he/she executes their role to exceed customer expectations and align with GPI business, cultural, financial and operational objectives.


Required Skills

Primary Responsibilities are, but not limited to the following:

 

  • Understand and comply with plant and finishing department rules, regulations, and procedures
  • Operates the glue machine for 4 & 6 corner biers trays, auto bottom & inner cell gluing
  • Makes adjustments on machines and ensures that all mechanical parts are running smoothly
  • Check glue lines and air lines
  • Fixes and cleans all machines (Preventive maintenance and other general repairs)
  • Inspects cartons coming off machine to ensure they are glued and formed properly throughout shift
  • Maintains the correct level of glue on all machines
  • Documents maintenance report, log sheet, QA checks and production
  • Assists shift supervisor on an as needed basis
  • Provides relief for breaks as needed
  • Keeps area and machine clean throughout the shift
  • Identify and resolve quality defects and causes
  • Handle and prioritize multiple tasks, read printing schedule, read status of current jobs
  • Accurately complete all paperwork, including quality checks and production reports
  • Use computer to find information on upcoming jobs, lookup tooling locations, input production data
  • Must be able to work overtime
  • Responsible for understanding and adhering to all GMP, safety, food safety, SQF, HACCP and food defense procedures (Training will be provided)
  • Other duties as assigned

Required Experience

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

  • 2 or more years’ experience operating Bobst die cutting equipment
  • SAP experience preferred

 

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

High school diploma or general education degree (GED)

 

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.  Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.  Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.

 

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.  Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

 

REASONING ABILITY:

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.  Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

 

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:

Company issued Fork Truck Operator’s license.
