Procurement Associate - Chicago

 

JOB SUMMARY:

Accountable for obtaining goods/services required by the organization including: Indirect Operations (e.g., Office Supplies, Computers, Travel, Maintenance, Machine Parts, etc.) & Direct Operations (e.g., Raw Materials and Services for Manufacturing, Production or Construction; Products for Retail, etc.). Procurement processes include: Product/Service Sourcing, Supplier Selection, Pricing/Terms Negotiation, Order Processing, Contract Administration and Supplier Performance Management. May include Strategic Sourcing.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Individuals in these roles have a functional knowledge focus and are primarily responsible for achieving results through their own work and through teams that they may be part of.
  • Handle requisitioning for the plant.
  • Track all purchase orders through completion and ensure timely delivery
  • Liaise with receiving to confirm accuracy and resolve discrepancies
  • Develop and implement cost-saving initiatives for supplies and services.
  • Requires the application of theoretical knowledge typically gained through formal education (i.e. a postsecondary degree) and/or on the job training.
  • Progression within the levels reflects increased functional expertise, scope and complexity of work, and ability to influence others.
  • May mentor, coach and/or train less experienced co-workers.
  • Applies knowledge and skills typically obtained from prolonged course of study.
  • Exercises specialized knowledge in industry practices and standards.
  • Develops competence by performing structured work assignments.
  • Develops solutions to problems with a focused scope.
  • Exercises judgment in analyzing situations or data and provides recommendations consistent with policies and practices.
  • Contributions usually have an impact on assigned section or group's business operations.
  • Errors in judgement or failure to achieve results normally involve limited expenditure of resources to resolve.
  • Works under general supervision with instruction, guidance and direction from others.
  • Work requires independently determining course of action and work product used for decision making.
  • Contacts are primarily with immediate work team and management, occasional interaction with other groups.

 

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s degree or related work experience required in lieu of degree.

Pay Range:   $56,325.00 - $75,100.00
