POSITION PURPOSE

 The person who occupies this position will primarily be responsible for determining the acceptable quality levels in the Printing, Cutting, and Finishing departments through auditing, sampling, and observation.

JOB FUNCTIONS

The following is a list of specific duties which are considered the essential functions of this job.  The list is not exhaustive, as all positions at the company are dynamic.  The employee who occupies this position is expected to assume any/all duties assigned by management irrespective of whether such duties are specifically included in this list.

  • Conducts audits on each piece of machinery in the printing, cutting and finishing departments using the quality assurance check list.
  • Assist in audit packet preparation; Sets up daily check using audit tools and other tests on an as needed basis.
  • Pulls quality customer samples from production floor or warehouse daily.
  • Review audit finding with the Management Representative.
  • Makes Customer sample books when needed.
  • Performs various office work, including filing and logging of information and statistics.
  • Serves as backup to the Quality Manager.

JOB SPECIFICATIONS

Physical demands commonly associated* with the performance of the functions of this job:

  • Sitting or standing, depending on changing job assignment, for extended periods.
  • Awkward and/or repetitive movements.
  • Occasional Lifting up to 50 lbs.
  • Standing, walking, lifting (up to 45 lbs.) carrying (up to 45 lbs.), pushing (up to 15 lbs.),, pulling, reaching, handling, visual acuity (Near and Far).
  • Position is associated with walking (back and forth from QC office to presses), standing (making inspections), handling (sorting cartons, operating test machinery), and visual acuity at short distances (to observe carton for defects).
  • Technician’s vision must be acute at short distances (20 inches or less) in order to inspect for quality of flat cartons.  Color vision is required to detect variances in color of product.
  • Inside conditions: Extremes of heat (seasonal), humidity (seasonal), noise (from production machinery), paper dust.

BACKGROUND/EXPERIENCE/SKILLS:

  • Manufacturing experience preferred.
  • Ability to communicate comfortably and effectively with upper management and customers
  • Strong organizational, time management, problem solving and analytical skills
  • Must be able to read, write, and speak fluent English.
  • Clear and professional written, oral and interpersonal communication skills.

 

EDUCATION / KNOWLEDGE:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Manufacturing experience preferred.
  • Machines, Tools, and Equipment
  • Must be able to read, write, and speak fluent English.
  • Basic computer knowledge, powered hand truck.

SCHEDULE REQUIREMENTS:

  • Schedules are up to 8 or 12-hour shifts on alternate days with rotating weekends off.
  • Must be flexible: Able to work other shifts, overtime and weekends when needed.
