Title:  Graphic Technology Specialist

MISSION / SUMMARY:

The Graphic Technology Specialist assists in selection, development, implementation, documentation and maintenance of production systems necessary for a prepress workflow. This includes, but is not limited to, internal and external communication, workflow databases and servers, proofing hardware and software, color management, workstation and server configuration, and new hardware and software evaluation. Will also work on special projects (research, training, tutorials, job simplification and automation, etc.) with other employees, customers and Clemson personnel on a regular basis, under the direction of the Graphic Technology Manager.

They understand and align business operations and Graphics as he/she executes their role to exceed customer expectations and align with GPI business, cultural, financial and operational objectives.

JOB FUNCTIONS: Job functions include, but are not limited to the following.

  • Must work within and adhere to the company’s core values of Integrity, Respect, Accountability, Relationships and Teamwork.
  • Maintenance and troubleshooting of server software and hardware
  • Maintenance and troubleshooting of prepress workstation software and hardware
  • Database maintenance and troubleshooting
  • Conduct daily and archival data backups
  • Perform prepress software installations, upgrades and troubleshooting
  • Maintain documentation of new and current production systems
  • Project Based duties:
    • Develop systems to accommodate new areas of prepress business
    • Develop database-driven, automated prepress production systems
    • Evaluate and implement new prepress production hardware and software
    • Develop training modules in regards to new technology
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

BACKGROUND / EXPERIENCE:

  • 1-2 years relevant work experience

 

EDUCATION / KNOWLEDGE:

  • Four year degree preferred or;
  • Compensatory closely related work experience required in lieu of degree.

 

SKILLS:

  • Working knowledge of both Mac OS/Linux and Windows operation systems (including server systems)
  • Web interface development and design – HTML, CSS, Javascript
  • Proficient in a high-level programming language, specifically Python
  • Proficient with SQL databases, specifically PostgreSQL
  • Familiarity with JDF (Job Definition Format)

 

SCHEDULE DEMANDS:

  • General schedule is an 8-hour M-F assignment, however, employee must be willing to work alternate schedules occasionally; that may include early mornings, nights, and/or weekends and be punctual while doing so.
  • Occasional overnight travel to include flying, driving, riding or by rail.

 

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Sitting or standing for extended periods of time up to 8-hours.
  • Occasional Lifting up to 20 lbs.
  • Reading computer screen or other electronic devices.
  • Use of various office hand and electrical tools or equipment.
