Position Description:

  • The Material Handler 1 works closely with the Press crews to supply them with packing materials and processing converted product to the next process.

Essential Functions:

JOB FUNCTIONS: Job functions include but are not limited to the following.

  • Participates in overall product outcome associated with web fed flexo presses
  • Interprets and documents standards related to product performance/quality
  • Assists in the maintenance and set up of equipment for customer product
  • Able to fill in as a catcher if needed
  • Sets up materials for press operation.
  • Assist in the performance of equipment operations, adjustments, tests and conversions on all equipment associated with converting operations
  • Participates in doing line clearance, quality checks, safety champion and production reports
  • Tests and inspects products as required to ensure consistent quality and operational standards are maintained.
  • Verifies and communicates both product standards and work standards to execute production. 
  • Follows customer packing specs and reports on any outages
  • Has a valid lift tow walkie license
  • Performs other organizational duties as required. 

Education and Experience Required:

  • Grade 12 or acceptable experience.
  • On-the-job related experience required.

Skills and Physical Requirement:

  • Basic computer skills, data entry
  • General schedules are an 8hr 3 shift operation and/or 12-hour continental shifts with rotating weekends off, however, employees must be willing to work alternate schedules or overtime that may include early mornings, nights, and/or weekends and be punctual while doing so.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Sitting or standing for extended periods.
  • Awkward and/or repetitive movements.
  • Occasional walking, bending and turning
  • Frequently reaching and twisting
  • Lifting up to 50 lbs.
  • Use of various hand and electrical tools and equipment.
  • Work in areas of fluctuating temperature.
