The Graphic Support Services Supervisor is responsible for leading their work center in the pursuit of the vision to enable: "Any Graphic, Any Plant, Any Time". The main objectives of the role are to ensure that business requirements are achieved along with setting a professional example and appropriate work atmosphere for all team members of the department. The supervisor will specialize in delivering service, communication, coordination, and production materials in a cost effective, specification driven environment for both internal and external customers. The ideal candidate will be instrumental in helping to make the Graphic Services organization go from transactional to transformational when conducting its daily activities.

Position Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following.

  • Point-of-contact for employees ensuring that safe workplace practices are adhered to and that company policies are followed.
  • Provide leadership and direction. Coach and mentor employees.
  • Distribution of job materials to the work center team and directing of activities as needed.
  • Managing of customer materials, suppliers, workflows and graphical assets.
  • Maintaining oversight of the continuous flow of work to manufacturing facilities.
  • Approval of employee timesheets and the managing of break requests, lunch requests, overtime, vacation time and personal time.
  • Perform employee performance reviews and administer performance feedback accordingly.
  • Lead shift meetings and contribute to regular reports for the department manager.
  • Fulfill project requirements based on schedules and specifications.
  • Communicate with customers and suppliers to secure approved prepress materials.
  • Control costs by utilizing internal resources whenever possible and practical.
  • Maintain and update all corporate and department material databases.
  • Lead production activity and process work orders as they are made available.
  • Maintain plant production schedules and maximize plant uptime.
  • Support of workflow: color management, digital proofing, plate production and reading of CAD files.
  • Perform follow up with suppliers and plants, support quality initiatives, and continuous improvement objectives.
  • Develop strong relationships with internal and external customer contacts.
  • Routinely display the core values of GPI: Integrity, Relationships, Accountability, Respect and Teamwork.
  • Gain trust and build professional connections with associates and plant stakeholders.
  • Share knowledge and learn from the experiences of others.
  • Other work-related functions include interdepartmental communications, maintaining department equipment and providing support during off-hours on a scheduled basis. The use of graphics related software applications and database systems are key requirements for this position.

Required Skills

  • Solid understanding of internal and external account management
  • Demonstrated understanding of and ability to manage the impact of Graphic Support Services processes and order fulfillment on manufacturing and GPI’s business objectives
  • Proven ability to construct clear and effective written and verbal communication internally and externally
  • Demonstrated positive team leadership experience

Required Experience


  • Educational Requirements: Four-year degree in applicable field of study or compensatory work experience is required.
  • graphics related software applications including Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Acrobat, Adobe Photoshop. Experience with production related graphics software; Kodak Prinergy, Rules Based Automation, VPS, PLA, Pandora, Esko software and products.
  • Advanced understanding of color management best practice and theory; ability to support press ok’s, fingerprints and color improvement related tasks.
  • Knowledge of computer hardware, scanning systems, measurement devices and large format printers.
  • Understanding and experience with Prepress with emphasis on Preflight practices
  • Understanding of ERP business applications and functions of databases.
  • Ability to lift packages of up to 50 lbs. and ability to maintain office machinery.
  • Work off-shift schedule and provide weekend coverage when needed.
