Job Description Summary

This Scheduler/Planner role is responsible for planning and scheduling the plant functions for production scheduling and Inventory availability to ensure the efficient and on-line deliveries for customer orders.  

 

 Job Functions: Job functions include, but are not limited to the following:

 

  • Responsible for the verification of SQF controls and meeting the standards of the SQF requirements.
  • Coordinates the scheduling of all machines, processes and production activities within the plants.
  • Recommends and assists the Production Control Manager for long-range capacity requirements planning, defining capital equipment and manpower needs.
  • Ensures adequate plant inventory levels for work-in-process and finished goods, optimizes inventory investments in relationship to plant efficiencies and scrap rates.
  • Coordinates information flow to the operating departments via production schedules.
  • Coordinates with Plant Information Systems Analyst in order to support integrated manufacturing software.
  • Updates daily schedule to balance efficiencies and customer needs.
  • Maintains project budget, to ensure accuracy and job scope.
  • Manages preventative / project maintenance calendar.

 

  • Communicates with other GPI personnel to maintain technical calendar compliance.
  • Maintains work in process inventories to maximize inventory turns and productivity.
  • Ensures scheduling maintains shipping commitments for effective service to all customers and advise sales of any unplanned delays. Coordinates with shipping department to meet customer needs.

 

Background / Experience / Education:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a related field required.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in paper, folding carton, or packaging industries preferred or a combination of education and experience
  • Experience in shop floor reporting systems (SAP) highly desirable
  • Experience in scheduling production machinery
  • Must be able to communicate well, both written and verbally, across the organization (shop floor to Executive level) and be able to efficiently collaborate with team members to achieve project goals, and contribute positively to the business
  • Must possess intermediate Microsoft Excel skills
  • Must be able to work effectively and efficiently in a fast-paced environment
  • Must be able to work under pressure
