Opportunity: We are a Foodservice folding carton manufacturing operation. We are seeking candidates to join our Elk Grove Village, IL team. We’re recruiting for multiple positions so be sure you review all job postings. This job posting is for a Finishing Lead with a pay range of $32.88-36.03/hour plus shift differential and progressive pay increases. Position Purpose: The person who occupies this position is responsible for assisting the department manager in the operations of the Finishing department.
Job Functions: The following is a list of specific duties which are considered the essential functions of this job. The list is not exhaustive, as all positions at the company are dynamic. The employee who occupies this position is expected to assume any/all duties assigned by management irrespective of whether such duties are specifically included in this list.
- Delegate work and schedule employees on Finishing machines.
- Communicate with suppliers to order materials.
- Work with the maintenance department to help repair machines. Also, there may be times when it is necessary to go to the maintenance department to get parts for machines and discuss problems with maintenance personnel.
- Fill in for department manager in his absence.
- Prepare daily work schedule (what jobs to run, what jobs need to be finished)
- Attend production and hot-list meetings to determine what jobs to run and discuss any production problems that may relate to Continuous Operation, 2nd and 3rd shifts in the Finishing department.
- Must have good technical knowledge of Finishing machines to help trouble-shoot problems and support other operators with make-ready problems.
- Ability to communicate with employees and plant management.
Job Specifications:
- Physical and visual activities that are commonly associated* with the performance of the functions of this job:
- Position may require 8-12 hours of standing and working on Finishing machines. Walking in the department and throughout the plant.
- Physical demands commonly associated* with the performance of the functions of this job:
- Working with Finishing machines and finished cartons. Ability to lift 40 lbs. without strain.
- Extremes of heat or cold (depending on season), noise (from forklift and production machinery).
- Use of Machines, Tools, Equipment, Software:
- Finishing machines.
- Must speak, read and write in English.
- Extensive knowledge of Finishing machines and their operation.
- Must be flexible: Able to work other shifts, overtime and Saturdays when needed.
SAFE QUALITY FOOD RESPONSIBILITES FOR ALL EMPLOYEES:
- Follow all Plant rules, Processes, Hygiene, and Allergens procedures, related to production of Safe Quality Foods.
- Report to person of authority to record any potentially unsafe conditions which may result in unsafe foods or noncompliance to SQF related procedures.
- Participate in SQF Root Cause and Corrective Actions (from customer complaints, SQF audits, validation, and verification activities) as required.
- Follow all procedures related to producing Safe Quality Foods (SQF).
- Report any potentially unsafe SQF conditions or customer complaints to a person of authority to record and/or correct the situation.
