Title:  Safety & Environmental Manager

JOB Functions

  • Manages the facility’s safety program to prevent injury through the involvement of management group, employee training, communication of goals, procedure/policy development.
  • Manages the facility’s environmental programs of stormwater pollution prevention, SARA, SPCC, RCRA, CERCLA reporting, hazardous waste, and waste minimization program, wastewater permit.
  • Development and maintenance of Title V operating permit (permitting changes, visible emissions evaluation, monitoring emissions, record keeping, and semi-annual reporting).
  • Manages property insurance loss activities and programs required by factory mutual (loss prevention fire suppression systems, FM inspection recommendations).
  • Remains informed in changes to regulatory issues to assure continued compliance (corporate does not provide regulatory oversight).
  • Manages activities for American Institute of Baking (AIB) Certification (develops procedures, employee training, coordinates other activities).
  • Manages facility Workers Compensation program.
  • Responsible for compliance with all facility product safety (GMP’s)/Sanitation policies and procedures. Employees must continually work to promote the orderliness and cleanliness of their work area in support of AIB/5’s and other company standards.
  • Must be supportive of GPI’s Mission, Vision, and Core Values (Integrity, Respect, Accountability, Relationships, and Teamwork).
  • Must be supportive and involved in GPI efforts for LEAN, 5’s, Six Sigma, and other Continuous Improvement programs and processes.
  • Performs all other duties that are assigned.

 

 


Required Skills

JOB requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Five years of experience in managing safety and environmental programs dealing with air emission and hazardous waste issues.
  • Working knowledge of safety, environmental regulations, and agencies.
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills.
  • Self-directing, and being very organized overall.
  • Must be able to handle multiple projects.
  • Exposure to a manufacturing environment is required.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts and fumes or airborne particles.
  • Proficient in Microsoft office- Advance in Excel
