Title:  Maintenance Planner/Scheduler (Plant)

Maintenance Planner Scheduler is an integral part of the maintenance team with primary responsibilities for planning and scheduling future work.  This responsibility includes working directly with customers in operations to prioritize and scope planned work.  Planning includes assembling the work order packages with all parts and information necessary for the craftsperson to complete the work and scheduling work according to agreed priorities.

  • Manage Customer and Equipment Needs
    • Daily / Periodic review of maintenance work order backlog including review and closure of completed work and organization of backlog work orders.
    • Conduct frequent Maintenance and Operations Planning and Scheduling Meetings to gain clear understanding of work scope, customer’s priority and scheduling needs.
    • Conduct review of work, ensuring understanding of completed work, ongoing backlog and reschedule plans for incomplete work.
    • Manage internal and external rebuilds of repairable spares
  • Plan and Schedule Work Orders
    • Accurately plan work including materials, hours estimates and detailed job steps with specifications.
      • Work Scope / Planning
        • Scope all jobs in advance of maintenance work to ensure detailed and adequate job planning.
        • Schedule mechanics/electricians to assist with detailed scoping and planning when needed.
      • Materials
        • Reserve parts in CMMS; notify stores clerk of stock outs or store room parts issues for resolution.
        • Order non-stores parts or work with stores clerk to ensure parts availability by the needed date.
        • Assist maintenance supervisors with obtaining parts emergency parts
      • Interface with production planning to ensure that assets are available for required maintenance work.
      • Develop weekly schedule by Thursday evening. Assign resources to the weekly schedule (produce the daily schedule) a minimum of two days out.
    • Improve CMMS Data and Job Plan Library
      • Develop, analyze and improve Bills of Materials.
      • Build a SAP Task Lists Library for repetitive work including rebuilds, frequent repairs, Preventive and Predictive Maintenance inspections.
      • Review SAP Work Order Completion Comments for Task List creation and/or modification and improvements to task list

Required Skills

  • Strong computer skills
  • Strong understanding of industrial maintenance best practices. 
  • Demonstrated perceptual and analytical thinking
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills and ability to translate technical information into workable plans
  • Ability to identify deficiencies in technical work and implementation plans, and to identify schedule conflicts
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Ability to adhere to healthy safety practices.

Required Experience

  • High school diploma required. Associate’s degree, apprenticeship program or technical school preferred.
  • Minimum of 3 years of direct Planner & Scheduler work experience preferred.
  • Previous interactive CMMS experience with a preference for individuals with prior SAP PM experience
  • Previous experience as an industrial mechanic, electrician, or instrumentation technician.
