Manufacturing Career Plan Intern

The Manufacturing Career Program (MCP) is a summer job program targeted at 16-18 year-old high school students that have an immediate  family member working for GPI. The MCP is designed to provide a real-life work experience in manufacturing. Students will be working in state and federal safety compliant roles. The MCP is focused on casting a vision of manufacturing as an excellent career choice for HS students that may not be focused on college as their next step. The MCP experience will include exposure to jobs throughout GPI’s manufacturing environment and include exposure to office support roles such as production control, quality, HR, finance, and customer service. MCP participants will gain a full understanding of GPI’s manufacturing process via rotational work throughout one of the Company’s converting locations; with the objective of joining GPI as a full-time employee upon graduation.


  • Feeding and packing cartons into corrugated boxes in the Finishing Department.
  • Hand-pack and re-work of cartons due to non-conforming quality issues.
  • Palletizing – stacking and labeling boxes on pallets in accordance with pallet diagram standards.
  • Learn to and complete SQF, daily/shift/job Production Reporting paperwork and Dept. Production Metric boards.
  • Use of manual material handling aids including pallet jacks.
  • You will only perform helper (“shadowing”) activities in Cutting and Printing Dept’s..
  • Assist with Die Making.
  • Roll-tending. Staging and prepping paper rolls to be sheeted in preparation for printing.
  • Assist in the completion of paperwork associated with shipping and receiving activities.
  • Maintenance helper for Preventative Maintenance on non-operating equipment.
  • Shadowing within plant pre-press area.
  • Learn to and complete quality checks/testing.
  • Assist in various office related functions, to include: Customer Service, Production Control, Quality, Finance, and Human Resources.
  • Participate in periodic Site Leadership Team meetings, daily production meetings, Gemba walks, Safety Committee, etc.
  • Miscellaneous activities, to include: sweeping, cleaning, lubricating, oiling, 5S activities, LEAN events, etc.
  • Complete online safety training and participate in weekly debrief meetings to discuss learnings and observations.
  • You will be trained on the use and required to wear all PPE and will be provided special hi-visibility attire to be worn at all times.
  • You will be required to comply with all dress code and personal grooming standards

Pay:  $17.50/hour
