Title:  Production Assistant - Baler/Relief Sheeter Operator

We are looking for people to help grow our culture to create an incident free work place, using standard work practices to drive out waste and continuously improve equipment reliability all aimed at reducing costs to support our business viability.

 

 

Responsibilities/Duties

  • Safe operations of the tipper/shredder/baler system in the Gresham plant
  • Load bales in the mill truck
  • Housekeeping on baler
  • Preventative Maintenance on baler as designated by the maintenance department
  • Band stacked sheets and load in mill truck
  • Plant support including:
  • Sheeting support for roll stock
  • Shipping support
  • Support in any other department when needed
  • Facilities cleanup including outside of plant
  • Utilize PackSize machine to make cases out of corrugate for the finishing lines
  • Operate electric Pallet Jacks safely to move WIP or finished pallets.
  • Maintain the cleanliness of the area (remove stray cartons, sweep up, etc.) performed during make-ready.
  • Conduct quality audits as required
  • Conduct sorting operations as required
  • Operate Fork Truck (training will be provided)
  • Operate Clamp Truck (training will be provided)
  • Provide back-up to the sheeter operator by relieving when on breaks or going to lunch
  • Run sheeter as required
  • Be familiar with the sheetfed requirements
  • Review job ticket
  • Conducts make ready as required
  • Inspect Sheets from every roll
  • Pulling defective sheets as required
  • Keep Department Managers informed of Safety, Quality or Production issues or improvement opportunities
  • Become familiar with technical aspects of Sheeter and be able to troubleshoot
  • Work toward achieving department goals

 

Job Requirements:

  • Knowledge: H.S. Education or equivalent, computer literate.
  • Skills:       Mechanical, communication (ability to clearly communicate in English).
  • Abilities:       Good attendance, guide teams/processes, ability to work alone.

Physical Requirements:

  • Duties require standing (except breaks and lunch) with little lower body movement throughout working shift for 8 to 12 hours.
  • Visual acuity at short distances. Needed to detect variances in job numbers, register and collator marks.
  • Color vision needed to detect inappropriate color of product.
  • Able to lift 25-35 lb. boxes continuously and 50 lbs. occasionally to cover Case Sealing position.
  • Occasional climbing, stooping, bending and overhead reaching.
  • Fine hand manipulation.
  • Grasping and gripping.
  • Able to work 8 or 12 hours shifts and overtime as required.
