Title:  Sheet Fed Press Operator

Sets up and operates machine to print folding cartons; ensure that the Press is Operating in the safest possible manner; that the quality of the produced product exceeds our customer’s expectations and that performance goals are achieved.  To perform this job successfully, an individual must obey all Safety procedures.  Individual must have excellent attendance, be able to work independently and be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily


Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Review job ticket.
  • Conducts make ready as required.
  • Setting-up plates, inks, feeder, and delivery sections and press.
  • Set-up and operate 6-7 Color Sheetfed Press
  • Conducting quality checks as required.
  • Achieve and maintain GPI Quality Standards
  • About to troubleshoot quality and press issues and resolve
  • Match approved color targets
  • Clean area around press.
  • Perform maintenance as required.
  • Deliver printed cartons to die cutting department.
  • Able to train new members on the press
  • Able to work with minimal supervision
  • Keep Department Managers and Leads informed of needed machine repairs
  • Ability to interact with customers, co-workers, and managers in a professional and courteous manner.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while meeting deadlines safely and within quality specifications.


Job Requirements:

  • Knowledge:  H.S. Education or equivalent, computer literate.
  • Experience:   Manufacturing experience required.
  • Minimum of three years’ experience running large format printing presses in the folding carton or commercial printing industry (Five years preferred.)
  • Machine preventative maintenance experience required.
  • Printing press basic trouble shooting experience preferred.

  • Must be able to work any shift (days/swing or graveyard)
  • Must be able to work 8 or 12 hours/day plus overtime as required
  • Skills:  Mechanical, communication.
  • Abilities:  Good attendance, guide teams/processes, ability to work alone.


Physical Requirements:

  • Sitting or standing for extended periods of time up to 12-hours.
  • Awkward and/or repetitive movements.
  • Occasional climbing, stooping, bending and overhead reaching.
  • Frequent walking
  • Lifting up to 50 lbs.
  • Reading computer screen or other electronic devices.
  • Use of various hand and electrical tools and equipment
  • Color vision needed to detect inappropriate color of product.
