Die Cutting Lead

Role  

  • In accordance with company policies and procedures, this position leads operators to assure quality cartons are produced and machine speeds and customer standards are maintained safely. 

Responsibilities

  • Must have working knowledge and experience of operating Bobst 145 and Bobst 162 die cutters.
  • Continuous training of inexperienced personnel.  Record keeping of their progress.
  • Supporting, reinforcing and maintaining quality control procedures and safety procedures.
  • Responsible supervising press make-ready: adjust press to accommodate for new product sheets being cut (set feeder, lock up die, set stripper, blanker, and delivery).
  • Be able to set guides, feeders and load dies; with assistance (weighing approx. 150 lbs.) into cutting press.
  • Inspect quality of each load run: responsible for checking random sheets from each cut load to ensure for quality.
  • When cutting problems are encountered, Pressman is to flag and isolate poorly produced materials (all defective loads are to be tagged).
  • Must be able to perform Pre-Make ready and Die-Prep duties
  • Maintain written records of production. Records of waste, production time, waiting time etc. are to be kept.
  • Responsible for running press as efficiently as possible and perform PM on all cutters.
  • Responsible for ensuring good housekeeping in the department.
  • Verification of materials running on load.
  • Fill in and assist shift supervisor as needed.
  • Assist in other areas as needed.

 

Safe Quality Food Responsibilities for all employees:

  • Follow all Plant rules, Processes, Hygiene, and Allergens procedures, related to production of Safe Quality Foods.
  • Report to person of authority to record any potentially unsafe conditions which may result in unsafe foods or noncompliance to SQF related procedures.
  • Participate in SQF Root Cause and Corrective Actions (from customer complaints, SQF audits, validation, and verification activities) as required.
  • Follow all procedures related to producing Safe Quality Foods (SQF).
  • Report any potentially unsafe SQF conditions or customer complaints to a person of authority to record and/or correct the situation.

 

Organizational Relationships

  • Must be able and willing to create and maintain a good working relationship with all Graphic Packaging International employees – lead the team.

 

Expectations

 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Ability to read, understand and follow job jacket instructions.
  • Knowledge of location and use of all safety devices in area.
  • Must be coordinated to perform job safely and quickly.
  • Use of Machines, Tools, Equipment, Software
  • Bobst Cutting Presses, electric hand truck, and company provided tooling.

 

Education and Experience

  • Must be able to read, write, speak and understand English.
  • Must have basic math skills.
  • Prefer working knowledge of cutting press.
  • Mechanical aptitude.

 

Working Conditions

  • Must be able to tolerate repetitious work.
  • Must be able to lift and handle up to 50 pounds
  • Must be able to keep up with machine speeds.
  • Must be able to be on your feet for long periods of time; 8 and 12 hours shifts.
  • Also requires ability to lift empty pallets (weighing up to 50 pounds) or (75 – 100 lbs. w/assistance) and placing at end of press.
  • Must not be colorblind.
  • Must be able and willing, when requested, to work any shift and overtime.
