POSITION PURPOSE

The primary responsibility of the Board Procurement Scheduler/Planner is to manage the scheduling and raw material consumption and the analyzing of raw material levels, managing purchase orders, overall inventories and aged inventory of Board for the production departments. The incumbent acts as a strategic business partner with Sales, Operations, Support staff and Procurement. Incumbents partner with Operations and Procurement to maintain sufficient levels of raw materials used in the label printing/finishing processes. Responsible for scheduling and optimum sequencing of materials and production for Sheeting, Printing, support downstream departments and the Master Schedule.  In addition, the Scheduler/Planner schedules all aspects of manufacturing and machine time.  This role is also responsible for minimizing raw material and WIP inventory, set-up costs, unfavorable efficiency variances, and downtime relating to material availability.

 

Job Functions:

  • Actively participates in daily production staff meetings.
  • Analyze raw material requirements and determine the lowest cost scenario to fulfill order quantities. Place raw material Purchase orders from approved vendors to support the production schedules for assigned departments.
  • Monitors raw materials and WIP inventory levels within established tolerances for items produced or purchased for the assigned operating department
  • Complete daily Board Shortage Report to coordinate board transfers from local outside warehouses into the plant for the cutting and lamination processes.
  • Analyze and forecast resin usage for both extrusion resins and lamination resins.
  • Place Purchase Orders with lowest cost suppliers for Raw Material Procurement.
  • Coordinates the planning and preparation for scheduling all cutting and finishing machines, and production activities within the plant.  Responsible for customer on-time shipment performance.
  • Produce weekly report for aged raw materials. Determine if any aged raw materials can be substituted on any open orders to control inventory.
  • Responsible for communicating all schedule changes to appropriate management and insuring raw materials, WIP inventory and tooling are available to support the change.
  • Performs functions of Material Master to build and maintain item numbers. Work with R& D group to determine proper raw material items for new products.
  • Assists Accounting Department with revised pricing and corrects P.O. prices to avoid discrepancies on invoices
  • Coordinate equipment availability for printing and invoicing.
  • Participates & leads Lean and Continuous Improvement events.
  • Serves as back up S&O Support Coordinator for those with Primary Customer Contact Responsibility.
  • Attends and participates in new business meetings
  • Assures customer contracts are followed for pricing and lead times.
  • Participate in Lean Six Sigma events. Responsible for understanding and adhering to all GMP, safety, food safety, SQF, HACCP and food defense procedures (training will be provided)
  • Responsible for compliance with all facility food safety, food defense, and quality policies and procedures including product safety (GMPs)/Sanitation policies and procedures.  Employee must continually work to promote the orderliness and cleanliness of their work area in support of 5S and other company standards.

  • Must be supportive and involved in GPI efforts for LEAN, 5S, Six Sigma and other Continuous Improvement programs and processes.
  • Performs all other duties as assigned.

  • Ability and responsibility to stop any process that is not meeting food safety requirements.
  • Ability and responsibility to stop any process that is not meeting customer quality requirements
  • Follow all Plant rules, Processes, Hygiene, and Allergens procedures, related to production of Safe Quality Foods.
  • Report to person of authority to record any potentially unsafe conditions which may result in unsafe foods or noncompliance to SQF related procedures.
  • Participate in SQF Root Cause and Corrective Actions (from customer complaints, SQF audits, validation, and verification activities) as required.
  • Follow all procedures related to producing Safe Quality Foods (SQF).
  • Report any potentially unsafe SQF conditions or customer complaints to a person of authority to record and/or correct the situation.

 

Job Requirements:

  • Associates degree or higher in a related field and/or 5 years manufacturing experience in flexible packaging preferred or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Must be trained on shop floor reporting systems
  • Must have specialized scheduling training in planning and layout.
  • Must possess excellent customer-service skills.
  • Must have strong written and verbal communication skills.

Pay Range:   $57,840.00 - $72,300.00
