Manages the movement of freight assigned within SAP and load control operation to ensure that both internal and external customer requirements are met and exceeded in the most cost effective manner. Maximize efficiency and customer service through effective verbal and written communication with carriers, customers and team members. Audits and processes all shipping and receiving documents for finished goods and raw materials.

Independent judgment is necessary. Supervisor is usually available.


  1. Responsible for on-time pickup and delivery of product, while minimizing detention by properly scheduling pick up appointments, conducts driver check in, and seals outbound shipments. This includes communicating with external GPI and contract warehouses, transportation companies, customer service, etc. These communications can and do take place and night, on weekends, and holidays.
  2. Reviews the team’s adherence in monitoring of shipments for service failures and notifying appropriate personnel.
  3. Collects data required for warehouse metrics, manages documentation of shipments including BOL’s and photographs of shipments, prepares and distributes reports as required.
  4. Load Plans shipments for all outbound shipments to external customers and GPI facilities, including completion of export documentation. Coordinates the receipt of finished goods shuttled from GPI production facility.
  5. Serves as the primary resource to provide transportation expertise and leadership.
  6. Performs problem-solving functions for internal/external customers and communicates resolution to appropriate personnel.
  7. Performs system maintenance functions for external customers in the management of transportation within external customer’s computer portals.
  8. Relieves inventory consumed at consignment warehouses and reconciles as necessary.
  9. Participates in periodic carrier service reviews; measures and collects data and prepares performance reports, conducts cycle counts, and audits shipping documents to insure proper invoicing.
  10. Assists with all inventories: Raw materials, Finished goods, outside sheeter (Patriot), pallets, and all other consumables
  11. Work in a safe manner and assure co-workers work in a safe manner.
  12. Cross-train in Receiving
  13. Responsible for compliance with all facility food safety, food defense, and quality policies and procedures including product safety (GMP’s)/Sanitation policies and procedures. Employee must continually work to promote the orderliness and cleanliness of their work area in support of SQF/5’s and other company standards.
  14. Strives to clearly understand customer requirements and delivers results to meet or exceed customer expectations.

Required Experience

  • High School diploma or equivalent is required.
  • 2 - 4 years’ experience is in warehousing and transportation is a plus.
  • Prefer a bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Must have knowledge in Transportation principles and function.
  • Ability to function in a team environment.
  • Ability to make independent and sound business judgment under pressure.
  • Must possess strong interpersonal skills and initiative.
  • Knowledge of computerized logistics systems and PC software.
