Title:  Cutting Manager

This converting facility produces a specialty line of folding cartons for national established brands in the consumer and beverage packaging industry.

Responsible for providing leadership, guidance, direction, and management for production within the cutting department operation.  Ensures safety, quality, production, and customer satisfaction goals are met.  Initiates and supports all processes and ensures compliance with Lean/Six Sigma efforts.  Minimal supervision required.

  • Plans, directs, and manages the operation to achieve operating goals and objectives consistent with plant and divisional objectives.
  • Responsible for achieving production and operational optimization through process management and regular communication with machine operators
  • Understands production schedule at least 36 hours in advance to support continuous operations
  • Strives for daily continuous improvement and opportunities regarding departmental performance
  • Identifies cost reduction and continuous improvement opportunities in support of Lean/Six Sigma efforts.
  • Identifies capital improvement projects for the operation and provides project management support.
  • SQF entered but also add FSSC as we may move accreditation.
  • OEE driven performance improvements with expectations of 50% OEE
  • Management of shift predictions to establish clear goals.
  • Deep dive in downtime management to increase and maximize uptime on the machines
  • Establishes and continually refines department goals in the areas of safety, quality, and productivity and employee development.
  • Ensures production operations are conducted in a safe clean working environment that complies with federal, state, and local laws and regulations.
  • Responsible to maintain inventories and expenditures within budgeted levels.
  • Overall responsibility for maintenance of equipment and coordinates maintenance requirements to minimize operational impact.
  • Works effectively with all department management to resolve issues and coordinate efforts to achieve stated goals.
  • Additional duties as assigned.
  • Directly involved in responsibilities /actions related to Prerequisite and Food Safety Programs.
  • Strives to clearly understand customer requirements and delivers results to meet or exceed customer expectations.
  • Ability and responsibility to stop any process that is not meeting food safety requirements.
  • Ability and responsibility to stop any process that is not meeting customer quality requirements.
  • Responsible for compliance with all facility food safety, food defense, and quality policies and procedures including product safety (GMPs)/Sanitation policies and procedures. Employee must continually work to promote the orderliness and cleanliness of their work area in support of SQF/5S and other company standards.

Required Skills

  • Must possess the ability to develop improvements, achieve budget/cost constraint.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Outlook preferred.

Required Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in related field.
  • 3 - 5 years of supervisor experience in manufacturing required, preferably in the Folding Carton Industry on Bobst equipment.
